On their way home last night, my friend was listening to the radio when a newscaster
called his little 91 year old granny to talk to her about the 'Holidays'. He
mentioned that he had noticed that Christmas has become so 'politically
correct that no mention of Christmas is made by most retailers anymore; we now wish
people 'Happy Holidays.'
His granny said she missed the Old Fashioned Christmas when everyone
wished each other 'Merry Christmas'.
We thought about it and agree...so this year we will be making a conscious
effort to wish everyone Merry Christmas...our way of saying that we are
celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.
Maybe in joint effort, it will rub off. Hope so. Is MY intent, anyway. Maybe we can prevent one more treasured tradition from being lost in the sea of 'Political
Correctness.' Think????
God Bless andMERRY CHRISTMAS!!.............
If Dobson was hell-bent on a "monopoly" you'd see him protesting Yom Kippur, Passover, and Rosh Hoshanah. Do you see him objecting to these holidays?
Let your fellow citizen Christians have their holiday in peace.
Yes. This again. And again. And again. And again. Until YOU guys get the message that you are NOT going to stuff YOUR set of beliefs down anyone else's throat. And that IS what's driving Dobson, et al, totally NUTZOID and is why he and others are actually trying to force it down our throats by having the Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) seeking to insert the evango-fascist point of view into as many public laws as they can, at the federal, state and local levels. That is the sole purpose of the ADF, which is funded by Dobson, et al.
If you believe there is a war on christmas, then you are being had by the very forces who seek your money to move the USA towards a theocracy of the evango-fascist model. Those old farts are crazy, and if you believe them, I'll mark you down as just as crazy.
I don't care if my tax dollars are used by a municipality to recognize religious holidays that its citizens observe. I'm not religious either.
Quite frankly, people who do get so worked up about such things need to find new things to be outraged about. Christmas parades, etc. are fun events, and if the townspeople vote to stop such things, that is one thing. It's another to pretend Santa Claus is shoving Christianity down your throat.
Putting up a Christmas tree in the own square is not the same as say, posting the ten commandments.
No, that's wrong. By definition Christians have a monopoly on Christmas, as Jews have a monopoly on Passover. Duh!
Christmas is a Christian holiday, and only a Christian holiday. The concern is over the attempts to dilute it, compete with it, and EFFACE it. The question is why can't people let Christians have their holiday in peace?
Happy Holidays!!
We've been through this before. If Hannukah was in October it wouldn't be famous. Jews have elevated it to compete with Christmas, presumably since it bugs them that Christians celebrate their holiday. You see more of this hate ideology with the preposterous creation of the cultural Marxist racial holiday of Kwanzaa (again, only created to compete with, dilute, and efface the Christians' holiday).
Lately, we've heard more and more about the Muslim holiday of "Eid". Thus far the Muslims have been the most respectful of Christmas and not trying to efface it. But reports from England are coming in that "Eid" too is now being used as the front for Christmas-hate and dilution.
On TV last night, the local ABC affiliate said: "Happy Holidays and Feliz Navidad".
Now that is really something. We now see the true pecking order: promotion of multi-culturalism trumps anti-Christianity!!
Since the Merry Christmas in the form of "Feliz Navidad" pandered to a Latino minority, you won't hear any complaints from anti-White racists, Christian bashers, Leftist Atheists, and Jews. This is similar to when European-White American express their cultural identity with Christianity and Christmas -- it's deemed "religious" and offensive, yet Latino expressions of Christianity (like pubic murals, Feliz Navidad, Madonnas, etc.) are deemed "cultural expression".
Whites who don't believe in the supernatural or a Deity, ought to at least consider being less hostile towards Christmas because it's moreso an expression of White-American culture than anything else. So why are White Atheists so hostile to something that has cultural roots in the West for 2,000 years? Bizarre.

He doesn't. We made up Christmas for ourselves and it has absolutely nothing at all to do with being a Christian or following Christ's teachings, and basically we piggy backed the season from traditions that already existed before "Christmas" came along.
A season filled with gluttony and buying a bunch of stuff for people who already have a bunch of stuff does not sound much like a "Christian" holiday to me at all.
Oh, for God's sake, PeachyTree (pun intended). First of all, regarding the holiday, TXboomerang is right. In fact, we don't really know when Jesus was born. It is thought not in the winter b/c the shepherds aren't usually out with their sheep then, even in Israel. But we don't know. Several of the gospels don't even mention the story of Christ's birth, but start right in on his ministry.
I believe the Jews elevated Hannakah in the US, not to compete with Christmas, or dilute it, but for the same reasons that Christians chose Dec. 25 to celebrate Christmas, that is, because the dominant society was celebrating then. In fact, there are Jewish holidays in Sept/Oct, and in areas with large Jewish populations, it is very evident that they are being celebrated. I really don't understand your beef with Judaism or Jewish people. Kwaanza I don't understand well, but it's not Marxist as far as I know. Marx was a German. The Germans celebrate Christmas big time.
And what is your beef with Feliz Navidad? It means "Merry Christmas" in Spanish. Most hispanics, at least here in Colorado, are Christians.

Dobson has been trying for several years to get all the fundies to join him in South Carolina hoping they will have enough numbers to take over the government and install a theocracy to run the state (think Iran).
Dobson has nothing to do with Christianity and everything to do with wanting power. According to the Scriptures, the Devil can quote scripture for his own purposes, and we are also warned to beware of false prophets.
