Wow! Pretty harsh punishment dude. Kind of sounds like fundamentalist religion.

some 20,000 dead French citizens from the record heat

that was a few years ago , mostly in retirement homes that were notoriously in bad shape in [socialist] France, no air-con, understaffed, the elderly being mistreated , even tortured, it's a frequent occurrence (read the French Media). With the same temparatures in Florida or Africa people thrive! and the record heat (40°C) didn't last long, about two weeks, it usually happens once or twice in a century in that northerly country (France lies between the 42°North and the 51°North) where people therefore is not used to heat.

there are olive groves in Southern England because the Mediterranean climate has shifted northward

Now that's an example of half-truth that the proponents of Global Warming are uttering all the time.
-First these "olive groves" are man-made and are only cultivated in gardens protected from the Atlantic gales in the Scilly islands and on the southern tip of
Cornwall , where one can also find Palm trees (also on Valentia island, Western Ireland) because they are right on the path of the Gulf Stream , and they 've been here for centuries. But I doubt they produce enough fruit to allow the manufacturing of olive oil!
-Second there is a decorative fashion initiated by the British snowbirding in Spain to plant an (already) mature olive tree in their garden in England; to be able to do that they tear up old olive groves in Spain and in other Mediterranean countries and export the trees to England, where they serve a mere decorative purpose (and often die because the climate is too cold&damp). It's called plundering &trafficking of protected species.

Kind of like Greenland had to many thousands of years ago when it went from being "green" land, thus the name, to an ice cap. Which by the way, is cooling, not warming.

What if you're wrong though? What if it is all cyclical and the planet is doing the same thing it's been doing for millions of years and some dumb scientist finds a way to 'fix' the global warming problem and winds up actually screwing it up and throws our planet of a natural cycle that spins the weather out of control? Have you seen some of the things they're trying to do? Sending toxic chemicals into the atmosphere to help 'cool' the planet. That's great, poison us all. I can't find that link, but I'm looking for it.

Or how about the law passed to ban incandescent bulbs in favor of flourescents? You know, the ones full of mercury which is very poisonous. And they're getting tossed into land fills all over the country, breaking and the mercury is flowing into our water sources and our land. Yep, that was a great idea there!

Shining a light on fluorescent bulbs - Environment- msnbc.com

How about the fact that 31,000 scientists have rejected the global warming idea, and there are more every day that are saying that the more we learn the more we realize it's just not real.

31,000 scientists reject 'global warming' agenda

U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works :: Minority Page

And they say CO2 is the cause of global warming? How about the fact that scientists actually agree that CO2 is a necessary part of life on the planet and essential to plant growth. And what about all the scientists that are now saying we're about to go into a deep cooling phase?

There's just too much info out there that's contrary to what the global warming alarmist have been preaching. And let's face it, if we were looking death in the eye because of global warming, do you think the people that are spouting it and making a fortune off of it would still be jetting around the country and being chauffered in limos and Hummers? Would they still be living in massive mansions that use more electricity in a single week than most of us do in a year?

Again, like I said, just my opinion.

Good post! The sun seems to influence the warming of the planets more than the inhabitants do.

You just may be a good addition to Maine. I'd avoid the 'cheap' properties in Eastport though. They are cheap for a reason.

Tell me; what is the optimum temperature of the earth?
I'm an intelligent being and I know full well that climate has been more extreme at time, though very rarely as warm as we are becoming. Mass extinctions have occurred during a number of those events, so I suggest you not be so blaze about major climate changes. I'd also suggest that we should pay attention to what modifies our climate because we will at some point begin to slip back into an Ice Age. If we can warm the planet during that time, it will pay enormous dividends.

BTW do you use a heating and cooling system in your home or do you just tell your children that seasonal temperature fluctuations are "normal?"

"Proponents"??? Do you know of anyone who is actually in favor of global warming?

Many people believe that global warming is real, but that doesn't make them in favor of it - two totally different concepts.

Oh really? I would like to know how warm the planet really was when Canada was a jungle? I would take a guess that it was MUCH warmer than it is now.

Look at all those species newly discovered! Now, how did that happen, especially in this time of mayhem and destruction caused by man?

btw; What temperature is optimum?

That won't happen if The Goreacle and his minions get their way.
