Well, to the OP, your thread was tarnished with "reality."

Why the Community Reinvestment Act - with Fannie & Freddie in the lead. You see, the democrats in congress thought that the banks were discriminating against people of color and cherry-picking applicants - so congress decided to force these lenders to give out cheap money to low-income, bad credit, high-risk individuals.

When Bush, McCain and the republicans sounded the alarms in 2005, the dems didn't want to hear about it - you see, F&F and other lenders had the dems in their pocket.

Until this year, the unemployment rate under Bush was comparable to that under Clinton.

Yesssss. This is what happens when banks are forced to loan money to unqualifed applicants, with no down payment, bad credit history and sometimes even with no income.
Thanks for the lesson. I didn't realize all of these things have contributed to our crumbling empire. But it isn't just a bunch of lower class rubes that didn't understand the risks involved in the market. It's not something that just happened to the African American or Latino communities like people like Rush would like you to believe. White collar and blue collar screwed up, and now the world feels it.

Yeah, until this year the unemployment was about the same as Clinton. So what? It is THIS YEAR.

Not trying to complain, but damn, don't you realize our economy is garbage right now? We need to make stuff again.

Obama's Inaugural speech was beautifully written and delivered. He did a great job of diplomatically placing a boot up Bush's butt. There's an expression that I heard years ago and it is fitting for today...Obama showed Bush his own ass in the mirror.

So he won't be your President because you have class? Sorry, class is nowhere in evidence when you insult your countrymen or insist on being superior to them.

How does one define "class" and apply it to Bush? Sure he comes from the super wealthy elite, is that the class you're referring to? Or is it the class where he was a below average student? Is class a trait of a person who lies repeatedly and has a coven of lawyers to ensure that laws are circumvented with surgical precision? Is class in evidence when one starts a war, clearly the lowest of human endeavors?

Sorry, I worked in banking in risk management. There was no FORCING THEM. It was based on the banker's own greed.

He suffered tremendous personal attacks and persecution from his critics largely because of poor advice from subordinates. Yet he was strong and forthright sticking to his principles and relying on his great faith throughout it all. Even the new President expressed admiration for President George W. Bush's courage and strength.

President Bush was elected twice over formidable candidates each time. His popularity was high throughout his first term and well into the third year of his second term. He weathered personal attacks from hostile media which tried to brand him as intellectually inferior and a war monger.

The vitriol and hate for George W. Bush consumed the media during the 4th year of his second term and they regenerated that hate onto the masses through both the printed and televised media. Our nation rapidly became a hate filled population in which people declared they would "kill Bush" would "spit upon George Bush" "rape Bush's ***** wife"-etc. Much of the hate was through TV where so called political parody went far beyond comedy and hate filled messages both direct and subliminal filled the airways. TV watchers were fed a daily dose of hate for the president through reality TV and biased news.

Unfortunately both the media and the hate filled mimics in their feeding frenzy failed to recognize or ignored the good of George W.'s presidency.

They ignored the great progress the Bush AIDS initiative in Africa was making.

They ignored the fact that hostilities in Iraq slowed and nearly stopped completely so that US and Iraqi contractors could rebuild schools, hospitals and infrastructure.

They ignored the diplomatic victories that forced OPEC and other minor oil cartels to increase production and give US citizen's relief at the gas pumps.

They ignored the fact that President Bush was a master of diplomacy who could work with a Democratically controlled congress to get legislation passed. Only rarely did they defeat any legislation President Bush wanted. Unlike many Presidents facing a partisan congress there was never a deadlock.

They ignored that Bin Laden and his forces were trapped along the Pakastani border and constantly under pressure from Coalition forces.

They ignored the fact that the Bush tax cuts and stimulus packages kept businesses open and people working.

Let us hope and pray that the new president does as well as President Bush!
Wow, is this a distortion of the truth. Accept maybe for the Africa AIDS thing, you are so off the mark. I'm too exhausted from celebrating today to take apart your post, so I'll put it off until tomorrow.

I don't even think Bush knew Obama was burning him.

They had no reason to worry - not with the government standing behind F&F and their schemes.
