Thank you for opening a dialogue.I am an Australian and as such, I suspect, seen as a child by many on both sides of this marriage. I am not going to argue for a reconciliation. I am just off to live with my grandparents in Europe.
okay, can we just agree to disagree? no matter what side we think or know we are on, we are ALL American Citizens. We are here for better or worse. We are stuck with all of it. We are free to pick and choose. We are FREE. Now, that definition may differ from person to person, but at least we have the luxury of talking about it. Do we really want a divorce? honestly? why not just change things? everyone wants change and nobody wants 'that kind of change'. okay. how about we vote as citizens on the bills going through the WH, and senate. how about we all vote on whether we want healthcare as it is proposed. let's see just what all of us want and if it is voted down, start over and try again.
it is really easy to say...lets divorce. but what will that accomplish? This reminds me of a hockey coach who tied his team together to force them to work together. Is that what we need to do? we're all adults here. lets work out our differences without the need of insult and threats. it doesn't work folks.

Dear American liberals, leftists, social progressives, socialists, Marxists, and Obama supporters..
We have stuck together since the late 1950’s, but the whole of this latest election process has made me realize that I want a divorce. I know, we tolerated each other for many years for the sake of future generations, but, sadly, this relationship has run its course. Our two ideological sides of America cannot, and will not ever agree on what is right, so let’s just end it on friendly terms. We can smile, chalk it up to irreconcilable differences, and go our own way.
Here is a model separation agreement:
Our two groups can equitably divide up the country by landmass each taking a portion. That will be the difficult part, but I am sure our two sides can come to a friend ly agr eement. After that it should be relatively easy! Our respective representatives can effortlessly divide other assets since both sides have such distinct and disparate tastes.
We don’t like redistributive taxes so you can keep them. You are welcome to the liberal judges and the ACLU. Since you hate guns and war, we’ll take our firearms, the cops, the NRA, and the military. You can keep Oprah, Michael Moore, and Rosie O’Donnell (You are, however, responsible for finding a bio-diesel vehicle big enough to move all three of them) .
We’ll keep the capitalism, greedy corporations, pharmaceutical companies, Wal-Mart, and Wall Street. You can have your beloved homeless, homeboys, hippies, and illegal aliens. We’ll keep the hot Alaskan hockey moms, greedy CEO’s, and rednecks. We’ll keep the Bibles and give you NBC and Hollywood.
You can make nice with Iran and Palestine and we’ll retain the right to invade and hammer places that threaten us. You can have the peaceniks, and war protesters. When our allies or our way of life are under assault, we’ll help provide them security.
We’ll keep our Judeo-Christian values. You are welcome to Islam, Scientology, Humanism, and Shirley McClaine. You can also have the U.N. But we will no longer be paying the bill.
We’ll keep the SUVs, pickup trucks, and oversized luxury cars. You can take every Subaru station wagon you can find.
You can give everyone healthcare, if you can find any practicing doctors. We’ll continue to believe healthcare is a luxury and not a right. We’ll keep The Battle Hymn of the Republic and the National Anthem. I’m sure you’ll be happy to substitute "Imagine", "I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing", "Kum Ba Ya", or "We Are the World".
We’ll practice trickle down economics, and you can give trickle up poverty your best shot. Since it often so offends you we’ll keep our history, our name, and our flag.

Divorce is granted, if it was up to me. Another thing you can add to your stipulations is that you get to keep the hypocrisy, self-righteousness, and the neo-con self-proclaimed moral compass ideology. So in other words, you want a one party state, in which everyone agrees with you (pretty much)? Sounds like the (former) USSR to me....scary.
Bless your little heart! You are so caught up in your own bitterness, that all you are doing is making sweeping generalizations and assumptions.
I don't think so. I think that the poster you're responding to is 100% right. There is no bitterness in speaking the truth. I have NO compunction in saying that if a conservative's daughter, lover, or mistress got "accidentally" pregnant, that they would not hesitate to jump on a plane, train, or vehicle to get to the nearest locale where abortion was a legal procedure. Either that, or pay off a doctor (local or otherwise) to perform an abortion, but label it as something else in the medical records.
People who have money and power, regardless of political affiliation, always get what they want, whether they have to work within the system or out of it. These are not sweeping generalizations or assumptions; these are facts.

The states belong to the residents of the states, and if they choose to leave the union, they may, under the tenth amendment. Our founding fathers firmly believed in such a right of the people.
