Um, I live in Texas and we never saw a 100% tax deduction. We never saw any special deductions based on state of residence.
I read a study (looked for the reference, but I couldn't find it again so I unfortunately don't have a link) that suggests getting rid of the income tax completely and imposing a flat tax on all purchases. I forget the number which was suggested, but say we have a 15% tax on every dollar spent and no income tax. Thoughts?
Just call it the Regressive Poors Tax and be done with it.
No way. Have all the states secede and leave DC alone with the debt.
It is not really fair to the residents of DC to leave them will all this debt they had no real role in creating. Congress does the spending and the states not DC elected congress.
