Our kids are about to inherit a huge debt that could cripple this nation. The spending planned for the next 20 years and the entitlement of social security for the baby boomer's will dig my grandkids such a hole they may never recover.

There is no way a tax increase on the top 5 wealthy people in the US will make up this deficit so we need to increase the tax rate for every American Family at least 20%. That includes Joe the Bus driver making $25k a year

Let's spread the agony around to everyone not just a select few.

No way. Have all the states secede and leave DC alone with the debt.

I disagree. We should exempt the bottom 85% of the income from taxation and set the rate high enough to recover the cost of government from the rest.

I can assure you that the other 15% will quickly not be in the 15%. You can work hard or not.

Well, that would certainly free up a lot of office space.

No joke. Why kill yourself when you can slow down a little and coast through with the other 85%.

100% taxes for all. Then we can receive our weekly allowances. Who said we can't be kids again?

And why in the world would we exempt ANYONE from taxation? One might argue that lower income individuals use a higher percentage of services without paying, (i.e. such as police, ambulance, hospitals etc) so someone could argue that they should pay more, but why in the world do you think ANYONE should be exempt?

That wouldn't be good for the economy either.

'Fraid I can't afford higher taxes, unless I'm about to get bigger benefits.
