You almost make it sound proactive.

It is also known as desensitization, as a medical term.

I smoke, and guess what, cigarette smoke doesn't bother me (anymore).

Before I started, I averaged 3 months per year hospitalized in an oxygen tent - the specialists' tests concluded I was allergic to everything they had a test for.

Now, I don't get ambulanced to the hospital for just walking by a perfume counter at a department store.

Haven't been hospitalized since I started smoking.

It is an excellent blanket desensitizer.

I have found since, though, that I can accomplish the same desensitization with very high doses of niacin and lecithin.

Nicotine and niacin are very closely structured.

Niacin would probably be parkinson-preventative also.

I have very high levels of Immunoglobulin E. I can play with hookworms all day long and feel better than ever.

Here's another medical term for you: cilia death.

Your lack of immune response shows that you have effectively made yourself more vulnerable than ever to SERIOUS illness.

Enjoy your slow death!

1) It is not her freedom to dictate how private business should run. They are not required to feed her.

2) You speak of health risks, but avoid discussing the research in detail?

Pick any research you wish and with the very research you link, I will show you why it is inconclusive.

Lastly, is she concerned about the numerous products she uses daily that have much lower Permitted Exposure Levels? So she doesn't clean her home, dispense her own gas, or barbecue? All of which often have a much lower PEL than SHS?

Look up the chemical breakdown of Evironmental Tobbaco Smoke. Do you know what the difference is between it and a wood burning? Much of the same toxins are the same with the wood containing even more harmful toxins than that of the SHS.

As I said, PEL is the issue because if we are not paying attention to amount, then she will die from shock at the amount of toxins she is exposed to daily.

That is why this issue isn't about "health concerns", but rather it is about people demanding they get attention and compliance for their personal demands. We call that being a spoiled brat who thinks the world revolves around them.

Someone who suffers allergic and/or asthmatic reactions to second hand smoke is a spoiled brat who thinks the world revolves around them?

I really don't like you talking about me as if I'm not here. It's rude. As to the first point, businesses have all sorts of restrictions for the public good, tax collection and other things. No business person has an unfettered right to run a business solely as s/he sees fit. S/he must pay minimum wage, in a restaurant follow other health laws regarding food preparation, some of which you personally may not agree with, can't serve alcohol to people under 21, etc. No, I don't clean my house, LOL!

As far as I'm concerned, the surgeon general's warning on each pack of cigarettes and the fact that second hand smoke aggravates my allergies are enough facts for me. When I have some time, I'll do further research into this issue but even if the research proves to be inconclusive as you are claiming (which I doubt), I sure as heck do not wish to risk my health or quality of life waiting for evidence that will convince smokers who are in denial about the negative effects of second smoke. As long as cigarette smokers persist in lighting up without any consideration of others around them, the harder the anti-smoking lobby will push for further restrictions or at the least, tax increases.

Well, I might just make the switch to niacin and lecithin only. Actually, adding them to smoking creates way too much dopamine.

I'll bet Michael J. Fox would be happier today if he had been a smoker though.
