I understand why "gay" would be the least popular attribute, and even "fat", but why is "Christian" something that many would not want to be?
I think it would be different depending on who you talk to. For me personally, I would not want to be a Christian (or any other type of organized religious person) because to me living a life based around fairy tales would not be how I wanted to live. There are many other reasons, but that's the big one for me.
It's a very touchy subject because for someone who see's a 'personal relationship with Christ' as the absolute ONLY way to live, it's extremely difficult to get that person to even awknowledge your views if they don't coincide with theirs. Being a majority Christian nation (although that number is dropping steadily) that is the one you hear about most often.
Good post, JetJockey. I think a lot of people voted based on the idea that they wouldn't want to be discriminated against, but you've pointed out a different type of reason for being turned off by one of those characteristics: Your own personal opinion of that characteristic.
I maybe should have asked the question using only characteristics that are unchangeable. Ah well. Next time.
Definitely would not want to be gay, too small of a demographic, too many loudmouth gays out there getting straight people pissed off... and well I wouldn't want to risk losing interest in masculine activities.
Being gay doesn't make you lose interest in masculine activities. What an ignorant remark. You know nothing about gay men!
As for the poll, I wouldn't want to be many of these things in combination. By themselves, they're manageable.
What, you wouldn't want to be a transgendered, bi-sexual, short, fat, half black half latino who's mom is Jewish and dad is Christian??
That would be the discrimination jackpot.
Here's a way to make it even more complicated. What if you were a:
transgendered, bi-sexual, short, fat, half black half latino who's mom is Jewish and dad is Christian - and you had $100 million in your savings account?
Being gay doesn't make you lose interest in masculine activities. What an ignorant remark. You know nothing about gay men!
Knowing what I know about JTraik, I bet he was only half-serious about that comment. Read his comments on this board with a sense of humor and you'll see that he's actually quite funny.
Nice to see you think all gay males are effeminate.
I'm not sure why you thought that's what I was saying. First, I just always thought that skit was funny. Second, I was trying to say that straight men can be effeminate (I was responding to a discussion about Richard Simmons).
In case you're curious, I happen to be a masculine gay man.
