Do you usually vote for candidates in all types of offices (Presidential, Congressional, state, local, etc.) solely because they are a Republican or a Democrat or do you actually vote based on the person him/herself?

I vote for the person who believes that there position in Government will be a priviliage granted to them by the Constitution and will in return honor that very Document. I have not seen a Republican or Democrat that has demonstrated that belief in at least 20 years.

I usually vote Democratic BUT if there was a conservative who was not blinded by religion or by war and actually wanted to be conservative, I would have no problem voting for the conservative.

Ah - you mean a true conservative rather than a neo-con.

I'd love to see a viable Presidential candidate in 2012 who meets this criteria.

As a social moderate/fiscal conservative, I've been repulsed by the recent choices.

Recently, it seems we've had two general options:

1) "conservatives" who enjoy putting American young men's lives on the line for "oil" and to "spread democracy" around the world, all while digging us into trillions in debt

2) "liberals" whose proposals seem to dangerously flirt with socialism and dig us into trillions more in debt

Yeah, as much as I say CONservatives here, I usually say that about neocons.

A true conservative would be good for me. As long as he or she believed in liberty and justice for all and not about oil and putting religion everywhere they go.

Anyone with a religious or military agenda is automatically in my doghouse. The last marionette was particularly brutal for me. Even his father wasn't that base.
