I just bought this book and the cashier at Barnes and Noble called me a racist.

I asked the manager to call me back (he offered) with any remedy he wanted to take.

I have a $50 gift card for Barnes and Noble, they didn't charge me for my purchase (about $30) and there is an opening at Barnes and Noble if anyone is looking for a job.

Did you tell the cashier the moniker you use on city-data and did s/he disappear for a few minutes and then return to call you a racist?

Actually she looked like a punk rocker type. She had pink hair, about 10 earrings.

She took my stuff rang it all out, and then looked at the book.

She says, "I can't believe they still print this racist stuff."

"Excuse me."

"I can't believe they still print this."

"Why?"

"Because they lost and the only people who care about them anymore is racist rednecks."

(I was speechless for a few seconds, what do you say to that?) "I think we had better get your manager."

"Why?" she says

The rest is history... and a great story!

BTW, I started reading this. Truly great book.

Absolutely! They had the moral and legal high ground.

I believe this book to be one of the better in presenting the Southern side. I believe the term "yankee" is used so much in this book simply because of emotion. Unbridled anger, I'm sure overcame the authors during their research.
