Whether they were on the property or not is unclear. Even if they weren't, they were close enough so that the shooters reasonably believed they were about to trespass, thereby making the shooting justified. Ever heard of a preemptive strike? I believe that's a concept that also came from Texas.

The reason all these things go on? We have 25 million people. California is the only state with more people and when you compare, they probably have more bad things happening.

And when you say "there are millions of fine people in Texas," replace millions with 24 million.

This wasn't meant to be rude BTW. I just had to stick up for the Lone Star State!

If those kids had hurt themselves on that property the owners might have been sued.

The owners had no choice but to shoot them.

TX law does not allow the use of deadly force to defend against a trespasser, only against someone who is armed themselves or who makes a forceful entry. This is why they are in jail and will be prosecuted and likely convicted.

No, but I sure as hell would like to see a ban on the idea that far too many gun owners have that a weapon is a way to solve the slightest grievance, and that defending property is somehow sacrosanct. Personally, I think that this hits right at the heart of this conservative mentality of individual rights trump all others.

And I say that as a gun owner.

What a weak, p***y law.

Only until someone returns the favor to those who live with the idea.

I don't believe any state allows use of deadly force to defend against someone who is merely trespassing actually.

The "stand your ground" and "castle doctrine" laws do NOT; that is a common misconception.

What exactly is an "Ilk"? Is that an insult? Did you forget the "M" when typing?
Just asking...
