Very few nurses, nationwide, belong to a union.

There is not going to be a single payer system

Go get your own credit card and max it out saving your life. That way you need not burden generations that haven't even been born yet.

When a patient goes to see a Doctor in America the Doctor has a pretty good idea as to what kind of Insurance cover his patient has. The Doctor knows how many examinations that will be covered by the Insurance Company and gives tests, operations etc accordingly. Your Care is decided by the premiums you pay and NOT the care you need.

Do you trust your government to keep you safe from terrorist attacks?

One of the Big problems that is causing the breakdown of many big companies such as GM is the huge bill for continued Health cover for existing and past employees. This would NOT be a problem with a UHC as this HUGE amount of money being payed out by the big companies would cease. Every employee would already have Health cover and if they wish to have Private health Insurance they still can but at a mere fraction of the cost as it stands today.
A UHC would save big companies Billions, Improve the Health of the Nation and be available to every citizen of the United States. This would all be payed for by a small Health Insurance tax that would easily pay for Health and construction of NEW Hosapitals. Each State being responsible for the planning and day to day running of their Health Service under govt. guidlines. More choice for the patient and Universal coverage and high quality.

Would you disagree with the idea that health care costs in the US are extremely high? Or that one injury or illness could bankrupt a family even with decent health insurance, let alone one without it? Isn't that a little scary?

Where do you see the opportunity for improvement in the current system if universal health care is out of the question? And how would you suggest making it more affordable to those who do not receive health care through an employer?

No, but I trust they'll collect every cent I owe in taxes. If they're good at anything, it's collecting.

There are certainly ways to reduce health care delivery costs. One major area is in the area of medications - the costs to bring a med to the marketplace is so very high - and much of this due to government regulations.

Its interesting that other countries, such as Canada or the UK, where Drug companies do testing and bring new meds to market, don't have near the same long drawn out requirements the FDA has here - and yet, very few problems associated with the reduced time.

This alone will bring a cost down -

Nurses come to the US because they can get jobs. And they want to travel/visit the US.

We don't have the best health care system in the world. You can, arguably, get some of the best health care in the world here, but our system stinks and the world knows it.
