Historically and still too often today, the guy gets off scott free.
One reason is that it is much more common these days for young ladies to have multiple partners and sex for 'fun' so daddy isn't always readily identifible.
It's not that it's anti-female.....just pragmatism.
How is it anti woman to suggest that everyone involved be responsible? How is it anti woman to say you should have the brains to NOT only require the man your with to wear a condom but to take birth control pills yourself, if you don't you can go down and get the EC?
If 72 hours after sex is too short a time for you then maybe you shouldn't be having sex to begin with??
At some point people need to be realizing that an act which creates children and passes along disease just can't be done casually anymore. If you do, you might as well be playing Russian Roulette.
Do women really think men are going to take responsibility? They are the ones saying they don't like wearing the condom but the first one to cry if there is a pregnacy. Who is going to take the responsibility ladies if you don't do it yourself. If you are going to wait on the average guy out there then your going to have a long wait and alot of children to take care of.
I completely agree with you but I am also sick of hearing men bellyaching about this issue as if they are supposed to be able to go about having unprotected sex (meaning no condom) with whomever they want with the same casualness I give a handshake and then feel like they have been trapped when someone gets pregnant.
AND even though a pill will soon be available, I will bet you anything men won't want to take it for fear of what it will do to their sperm count in the long run. Well WELCOME TO REALITY BOYS, women have been taking birh control pills for years now, for your convience as well as ours, sometimes causing some pretty hard to live with side effects.
I agree with you too and I see your point BUT there is no way I would ever have taken the chance to have some man "spawn" and then walk off and leave me with the results.
Women are the ones who are up at 2 am with a sick kid, etc.! So women have to take charge of their bodies! We can't blame men any longer because we really do have a choice if we get pregnant or not.
This isn't anti woman. This is about a woman taking control over her body and preventing an unwanted child being born without having to resort to an abortion.
With all the abortion talk, it's just good for woman to know they are not victims and forced to have a baby they didn't want and not to have to resort to abortion.
Well, I agree with that, but many of the comments have been anti-worman.

That's still anti-woman. Men have been doing that for millenia.

I don't dispute your pharmacy knowledge (you're a pharmacist, right?), but I worked in a student health center about 35 years ago, and there was no "Plan B" at the time. A high dose of BCP was prescribed to be taken like Plan B. The current med is probably better.
It's 18 yrs old to get it from a Pharmacist and 16yr olds can get it with an RX. No pharmacy should be refusing it as long as t he patient has ID and is 18 and older.
The bottom line is there will always be exceptions but the majority of people in the US can get their hands on this. Plus unless you are ship wrecked, 72 hrs is 3 days and should be plenty of time to get to a Pharmacy or a clinic.
So what about the 14 and 15 year olds who are out there having sex?
What do you recommend for them?
I doubt many of their parents know they are having sex....and it would be a huge deal for the girl to ask for Plan B.

Yes, I am a Pharmacist.
I would love to have seen the data on the reliablity of that program. YIKES!
You do know that there are some people on the prolife/antiwoman side who oppose even the Plan B pill.
Try to be philosophical for a moment, and understand that pills do not "fix" anything. They sometimes create a problem of larger scale.
