With the economy as it is, medical services are still required.

But, another thread that is anti planned parenthood.
They benefit when this happens because I send $100 to support women and their health care.
They were invaluable to me when I was a poor college student ... and not for the 3% use either. It's truly sickening that PP is associated with one thing only, the anti-choicers minds are in the gutter.

The PP in my stateside location also provides classes for pregnant women, general health classes, classes for new mothers, etc.

and i am glad they have that option.

the reason i posted this article was to distinguish if a correlation exists between hard economic times and visits to PP. apparently there is a link, according to the article.
and given the anecdotal evidence presented by the various posters here (thank you all) it is clear that PP is a very needed resource, particularly now that many women and families are facing a harder economic times.

PP is a good thing and it should be supported. just like soup kitchens should. we see a growth in the number of people accessing food pantires, its almost no suprise that more and more people would seek free or low cost medical services.

thanks again.

o ya and it kinda contradicts this idea that more people are anti abortion in the US. i mention abortion because it was mentioned in the article.

maybe people are saying they are anti-abortion, but when put in this predicament of tough economic times and the possibility of an extra burden they make a contradictory choice.

or they can be completely unrelated...

You hit the nail on the head, my friend.

I know one gal in particular who was ridiculously pro-life, until she got an abortion. I think many people like the idea of being 'pro-life' but when it comes right down to it, they might make the decision to have an abortion.

You just can't judge a woman's decision when you don't know her and her situation.

I personally know two women who were pro-life, got pregnant, got abortions, then went back to pro-life. Guess choice is only ok when it's convenient to them.

I think a lot of it is a front. They pretend to be pro-life because it makes them look like good, wholesome girls.

In reality...not so much.

So a down economy is a good reason to use your spare time to get pregnant and then go get an abortion? Hopefully this increase is minimal nationwide.

Abortions only account for 3% of Planned Parenthood's services.

They also provide prenatal care for women carrying to term.

I personally knew a young woman who had an abortion at 18 because she had little money and knew her college career was over if she had to support a baby. She managed to back off her dislike for herself enough to marry me but that little decision by her did, in fact, destroy our marriage because she didn't want to have a baby since she killed one. Finally it got the best of her and she rated herself too low to be my wife and asked for a divorce. We remained close friends and she tried marriage one more time but had to break it up also because she just couldn't bring herself to have a baby.

This woman has been a school counsellor for young teens, mostly minority girls, and it is that very thing they use her for because of her experience. What does she tell them. Why just to have the baby and give it up for adoption. That way they don't have to feel like murderers the rest of their lives. Yes, she is very pro-life.
