He bashed Obama for being on TV too much and wanting to be liked all the time.
In his closing, he said he liked how Bush was so stubborn and didnt care if people liked him or not. It was said tongue in cheek. He basically wanted Obama's views with Bush's stubbornness.
I really wonder about liberals/left-wings. Their views are always changing, its (even if their wrong). Liberals are hesitant and second guess their selves all the time.
What I dislike most about Bill Maher and liberals like him is they are not solutionist. They just complain and rant. And that shouldnt be the discourse.
This is disgusting.
I wonder how liberals views will be about Bush and Obama years from now, it could be different. Bush the hero and Obama the enemy? I just hope America is on the right path, I could care less about a president's celebrity/popularity/legacy.
Oh and also, Bill's guest kept ranting that Obama is a socialist-communist. This is an extremely liberal show, so yeah, thats interesting.

The guest that was ranting was a lifelong Republican. See, "liberal" shows at least make an attempt at balance which you are critisizing. Bill Maher's show is entertaining but he's a borderline extremist. To want Obama to force feed his views in the manner that Bush did would be unObama. Obama has always said he would seek to compromise on most issues. For Maher to say that this isn't the "change" he voted for is hypocritical. He railed on Bush for being extreme but would excuse that behavior if Obama was to do it. This is why most libs watch these shows for entertainment not there daily CD talking points as wingnuts do.
So when liberals support the President, they are typical water carriers but if the object, then they are sickening because they change their minds. In other words, the left is bad and evil and there isn't anything they can do to make you happy.
How open minded of you.
However I did understand the context of Bill Maher's chiding of Obama. He was pointing out that Obama is trying to be moderate and everything to everyone and in the process will get little done in the areas of health care. Maher was suggesting that since Democrats are in full control of Congress and we have a Democrat as President that Obama should just do a George Bush and do whatever the hell he wants on his agenda and to heck with what people think, you know just like Bush did. Go with his visceral gut so to speak.
The guest you speak of is P. J. O'Rourke, a satirist, journalist and generally considered a Libertarian. In case you were not aware, a satirist is basically a person who uses human or individual vices, follies, abuses, or shortcomings are held up to censure by means of ridicule, derision, burlesque, irony, or other methods, ideally with the intent to bring about improvement.
I know I have my complaints about Obama but any more, I imagine if we awoke tomorrow and found out that Obama cured cancer, solved the global energy crisis and invented the warp drive, people would whine and complain he didn't do it sooner.
I wish I could agree, but I can't. I stopped watching Countdown With Keith Olbermann for that very reason.
Who watch's that that show????????
Their rating are going down the tubes quickly!
O'Reilly on FOX is the best cable news show period with Glenn
Beck in a close second, and Hannity hitting third.
I agree that Obama needs to stop trying to be charming, he's already the president.
But I dont think Bill Maher's rant was necessary. I feel like the Obama backlash is warming up.
All i'm saying is Conservatives are more loyal and supportive to their leaders. In addition, I dont think liberals know what they want.
As for P. J. O'Rourke. Satire is not his strong suit. The audience didnt laugh, he was not funny. It was awkward watching him.
Charming??????????? He needs to accept being an American!
Saying sorry to other countries for being American is unamerican!@
