At least that's the way Senator (R/TN) Lamar Alexander sees continuing to throw money at trying to save Norm Coleman, former R Senator from MN. The problem with the strategy of sending all your ships/money after once sailor is that when you need them for another mission, they're not available.
And that's kind of the way the money is going for the Republican Senatorial Campaign Committe and others who are being slowly bled by Coleman's quixotic quest to try to win an election that he's already lost. That and his continuing legal problems that he's using his campaign funds to fight.
Except in the Bush White House money money is a finite resource. The Rs have 18 seats, including 5 resigning members to defend in the Senate in 2010. Maybe they thought a milllion dollars to win one in MN was a good idea, back in December. Now it's beginning to look like a drain on resources.

Minnesota State Supreme Court rules for Franken, 5-0
By Pat Doyle, Star Tribune
June 30, 2009
The Minnesota Supreme Court ruled today that Democrat Al Franken won the U.S. Senate election and said he was entitled to an election certificate that would lead to him being seated in the Senate.
"Affirmed," wrote the Supreme Court, unanimously rejecting Republican Norm Coleman's claims that inconsistent practices by local elections officials and wrong decisions by a lower court had denied him victory.

That's Senator Franken.
Gotta give it to Norm Coleman. He proved that he is a true conservative. He wasted tons of money and in the end left with nothing to show for it.
