What's to slam? One of the most educated, wealthiest nations per capita in the world, who give more to charity than any country I know of. That said, their drug laws are very conservative, so I will ding them a bit for that though...

Norway has held the number 1 position in this study many years. Guess like Norway's evil socialist empire is actually working.
Unfortunately, many Americans have been convinced that government can do no good. I have a feeling that this is changing, however. It's apparent that the younger generation is more aware of the world around them, and is open to the idea that we can look to other countries for ideas about how to improve the quality of life for all Americans.

No surprise. Many view America as a right wing country, regardless of who is president.
Americans consider anything not right wing as evil and communist. Read the posts.
There are only two kinds of people in this country: Patriotic, god fearing Americans...and sinister communists.

Wow! This is a moronic comment if I've ever read one. Since when did being pro-choice make you a commie? Can you explain how members of Obama's cabinet hate America? I don't like alot of them; I don't like Tim Geithner, Larry Summers, Robert Gates or Hillary Clinton. But I'm not going to make a ridiculous claim that they hate America just because I disagree with them. Your comment was so inacurate that it's got me defending Tim Geithner, who I think is an incompetent, brainwashed, ideological driven loser that doesn't have a clue what he's doing.

it's really interesting how so many Americans can't see beyond our national politics. Angry statements of this nature just erode the poster's credibility.

Obama is FAR from a flaming liberal. Just ask one - or a socialist for that matter.

Obama's pretty centrist when considered from a global perspective.

Well, for those that think that government can't do anything right, having a semi-socialist welfare state like Norway in 2nd place of the UN Development Index while world power United States is at 15 is proof that they are wrong. Of course they will just ignore the facts or make up some bull**** excuse like they always do.

I know, and I agree. This is why they look at higher education as their enemy. They vilify college professors. They don't want people to learn about the world outside of the U.S. Basically, their philosophy is, "The U.S. is always right - even when we're wrong!"

As Peggy Noonan said, Palin couldn't name any newspapers that she's read because she doesn't read any!

Obama's pretty centrist when considered from a global perspective.
Both parties have shifted to the left, that is really the context to view him in.
FDR would have been proud of Bushs spending and expansion of government.
Bush was further left by far than Obama ever a conservative.
Lets remember Obama held the distinction of having the most liberal voting record in the senate for the year 2006. If that's not flaming, it sure is warm.

And Obama is pretty out there when you consider the company he has kept with the likes of hard core lefties like Ayers,Rev. Wright,Father Pflegar, not to mention he was heavily influnced by the teachings of radical leftist organizer Saul Alynsky.
Hardly centrist types.

How anyone can think Obama is far to the left is beyond me. He isn't even on the left to begin with. The only reason Americans believe so is because they have next to no understanding of how the rest of the world works.

Norway, in addition to being run by Social Democrats, is among the wealthiest and most developed nations in the world. It is governed by a member party of the Socialist International.
