Jeff Sessions, the Alabama Republican who took over the post from Pennsylvania Republican-turned-Democrat Arlen Specter, is under intense pressure to land blows on Sotomayor without offending Hispanic voters. It's a tough task, made all the more difficult by Sessions' history of racially insensitive positions and statements.
What is it with the righties? They think the minute Sotomayor is sworn in there will be billions of abortions, a gun grab and a newly written Constitution. I don't think any of this is going to happen, at least not in the foreseeable future. Sotomayor is more than qualified to become our next SC Justice.

When the left-wingnuts reply with bizarre lies like this one, you know they're getting desperate.
No reason they should be. If Sotomayor was proven to have cheated on her entrance exams to Princeton and then sabotaged the floor of Jadwin Gym, she'd still be confirmed.
This weeks entire proceedings have no real point. We elected an extreme-left President, and an extreme-left majority to the Senate. One result of this, is that extreme-left judges are going to be appointed and confirmed, period. We get the government we vote for. Hearings will be irrelevant until sense returns to at least one of these branches of govt.
If Hispanics are offended by simply pointing out that Sotomayor clearly has a racial and gender bias in her judicial record, then it seems to me that the Hispanics need to a lesson in objectivity. Otherwise, they will continue to be patronized, just as African American's have, by Democrats that will say and do anything to get a vote. The real problem with this minority demographic is that they are largely ignorant of this fact.

Except that she has no racial or gender bias in her judicial record.
The right wing JCN dismissed Sotmayor yesterday ....before she made her opening statement!
Quote:
We have seen enough to conclude that nothing that Judge Sotomayor or her liberal backers say in her hearings this week can alter the significant record before us, and accordingly, we are today asking Senators to vote “no” on her nomination. Far more relevant than whatever she says this week, as a result of White House coaching, is what she has said and done in the past. In short, past performance is indicative of future results. Her record of decisions and statements is a far better predictor of what she would do in the future as a Supreme Court Justice than any self-serving testimony she may offer this week.

I have to say, at least they took the time to write up their objections. While I disagree with them, it's refreshing to see an argument actually being made.

So some website nobody's ever heard of, doesn't like her? I'm completely surprised.
(I agree with their reasons, BTW).
Which Senate seat does that website hold? How much influence will this "vote" of theirs have?
(yawn)
