I think what you mean to say was, the cost of health care "because" of insurance. $10 housecalls weren't that long ago.
Surely you jest! $10 office visits were at least 50 years ago. In 1971, when I was a very young nurse, a dr. visit was $16 in Champaign, IL, not a mecca of health care. As hospital employees, we got a 50% discount at a particular practice.
You gripe about your tax money, your tax money goes to politicians free healthcare who then in turn create legislation to deny you healthcare and shield insurances companies.Who is your politician serving?Or is a good American only a good American when they aren't a risk to insurance companies profit?
As with every federal employee, federal level politicians pay for their health care, a portion is paid by their employer.
How is this different from most other people who have insurance where they work?
Is this seriously the best response you can come up with?
Waste of my time.
Learn the Constitution, and read what is written. The only people that need to "interpret" every aspect of it are those same people who wish to exploit it for their own gain.
I understand it perfectly, and understand that people that wish to exploit it such as yourself are dangerous to our society and the very humble foundations that formed this great nation.
Location: I currently exist only in a state of mind. one too complex for geographic location.

my great uncle was a MD from albany NY. he did $10 housecalls his entire career. I was born in 76, so it was within my lifetime. and NO, not 1876.
people are confusing health care with health insurance. no one is denied care.
Sure they are. Even to those who are insured.
