You people just never give up...constantly gloom & doom...sky is falling..unbelievable...
It's not a matter of gloom and doom. It is a wake up call for the comatose to realize that we do have an adverse affect in the planet when we irresponsibly pollute it with subsances that were never meant to be part of the eco system that nature intended. Is that really to difficult for you to comprehend? Do you have understanding of the complex balance of nature? Obvioulsy not!
From now on we should be urged to spew as many noxious fumes and vile chemicals into the air as possible. In fact, we should do this in your neighborhood in particular. We should make sure all runoff of polluting waste gets into your local waters as we all know that mutated frogs are really not a sign of contaminated water, but progress.
You seem to be confused, CO2 is not pollutant but in fact a gas required for life on earth as we know it.
Air pollution within the U.S. has dropped more than 50% since 1980.
Standard Al-Gore-ithm for dealing with global warming/climate change/term du jour deniers:
Believer: claims consensus among scientists is proof enough
Denier: says consensus is not considered scientific proof
Believer: claims that Denier's opinion is not valid because they are not an esteemed scientist
Denier: recites the scientific theory and repeats on how (Believer) isn't acknowledging the he/she is using scientists' opinions as opposed to cited proof
Believer: makes fun of Denier's intelligence, utilizing trendy elitist terms such as "redneck", "Bush supporter", "neocon", etc
Denier: shrugs at how Believer descended into childish tactics Pee-Wee Herman himself would be proud of.
You site an AccuWeather blog.... I actually went to the site and it was focused on the Northeast from what I could see. So, yeah, true enough for the Northeast but not exactly a global view.

Since I am no longer affiliated with any organization nor receiving any funding, I can speak quite frankly ... . As a scientist I remain skeptical about man made climate change." -- Atmospheric Scientist Dr. Joanne Simpson, the first woman in the world to receive a Ph.D. in meteorology and formerly of NASA who has authored more than 190 studies and has been called "among the most pre-eminent scientists of the last 100 years."
Again... I guess according to "YOU and Saganista"... Dr Joanne Simpson has obviously no understanding of the complex balance of nature?....
The plumes coming from those stacks consist almost entirely of water vapor.
Hard to tell from that picture because it's so small but I'd imagine it would similar to this one:
This picture by the photographers own admission used a setting on the camera that actually makes the water vapor clouds look dark. That's why the top of the stack in the very forefront is so dark. The wide cooling stacks that you will also see at nuclear plants to the front and rear where the most voluminous "smoke" is coming from is made up entirely of water vapor. The only stacks that have any emissions are the tall skinny ones to the right. That too is water vapor as one form of pollution control is called a wet scrubber which will produce steam. Ironic but what most people think is pollution is in fact pollution control.
Thanks for pointing out the truth...obviously it was a misleading photo by Walidm...you know the old saying "Realtor or Used Car Salesman...whats the difference"
It's common tactic to use the "smoke" picture to depict a coal plant or industrial site to show how much pollution it produces, the reality is most of the "smoke" you see at an industrial site or power plant is nothing more than water vapor.
So if you want to discuss pollution please try and not continue the doom and gloom most people will lead you believe.
If it's CO2 you wish to discuss keep it within the context of what is which is greenhouse gas.
How convenient for the US since China is producing ALL of its goods, and the Europeans are the ones coping acid rain!!
