To answer your second question, yes we still get paid. The reality is that patients can suffer from complications from any procedure regardless of how careful you are. Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do to avoid that. I don't think I should not get paid becuse I did everything I could within my power to improve a patient's health even if the outcome was undesirable. What exactly was your point anyway? Do firefighters not get paid because they didn't put out a fire. Does a police officer who failed to stop a robbery lose a day's worth of income? What kind assinine logic are you using?

Maybe doctors don't have to advertise because they're subsidized by the federal government via Medicare and Medicaid. If not for the government I imagine you'd be selling your skills on late night television too.
As I said a few posts ago, I'm not really against reasonable tort reform. But your attitude about doctors and lawyers is ridiculous.
