HAGERSTOWN - The Secret Service is investigating a man who authorities said held a sign reading "Death to Obama" outside Wednesday's town hall meeting on health care reform in Western Maryland. The sign also read, "Death to Michelle and her two stupid kids," referring to the first name of President Barack Obama's wife, said Washington County sheriff's Capt. Peter Lazich.
You are right. They just go there because they are MAD at the fact that the nation is changing right under their feet and they are powerless to stop the changes. They see us becoming more and more of a "no majority" nation and the power of the white male in decline and they want to channel their anger on somebody and right wing talk radio eggs them on. It is not even about healthcare with these people. They would show up no matter the issue if the AM Nazis tell them to show up!

I dont think they can prosecute..probably just confiscate the sign...wishing that someone would die (a natural death) and threatening to murder them is 2 different things..
I would never defend this, but how can you defend a president that talks about rationing healthcare for senior citizens and using tax dollars to do abortions which to me is the same as murder. It is against the law to threaten him but he is threatening the well being of many Americans.

I suspect that for most of the Congressmen who probably have boxes and boxes full of such pending legislation, that some will peruse the major pieces of legislation, but the bulk of such legislation is read by aides in the office who highlight the most prominent parts of the legislation (you wouldn't highlight the sections that say what parts of previous legislation are being replaced by new legal code, for instance), and then provide the legislators with summaries.
When confronted at town hall meetings by people who are referencing specific sections and paragraphs of the bill, it seems painfully obvious that the Congressman doesn't know the legislation backwards and forwards. But there are always many bills floating around Congress at any given time, and the summary approach has been an efficient way to handle the load.
I do think that we've reached a point where this has become an issue. Setting limits on the size of proposed legislation, and eliminating completely tack-on legislation would be good moves, imo.
Very good post concerning the way legislation is done in congress. I was ingterrupted by a long phone call after I started this so will refer you to a link for some discussion of the abortion that is not a bill but is being discussed as if it was. I think there is something here that nobody has mentioned yet and it is too important to allow the thing to be passed with this in the bill. I think the page number is about 824. Anyway, it is something that would scare the poop out of me if I was a young parent or getting ready to be one. Check it our and let me know what you think.

Yea right, he was advocating the death of the President Of The United States. They already arrested him. The next step would be to send a loud and clear message and thrown his sorry butt in jail.
