ah- I see. thanks for explaining that. I make my own decisions. Unless someone has lived there or visited for a month, it would be fair to not judge. Asheville NC didnt seem that liberal to me.

Where I live people think Asheville is a little off the beaten path/students, etc.- but even people in Tenn dont label it as liberal. At least not where I live.

Charlottesville(Va?) I have never been . Maybe I should check out that site- I need something in the middle.

How would they label Miami though? IMO I am left-leaning, but HATED Miami and its superficiality. I dont think politics even has relevance in S Florida- it is almost off the map-lol.

I thought it was by the number of Volvos (usually with a "war is not the answer" bumper sticker)!

I'm glad I don't see that very often !!! I am very proud to have served in the military, and if someone doesn't like it, then that is their rightful opinion... I definitely do not like war, but feel it is necessary as a last resort to protect people... As for the left or right thing, I still think the majority of republicans and democrats alike love our country/troops,etc... I have friends in both parties that feel the same way.. Am I sheltered or is this how most of you feel ???..

thats the thing though. its hard to define liberal. what is liberal to one person is not to another.

well when you talk about protecting people, what do you mean? because i dont think iraqis really feel protected, especially the half a million that died since the invasion. another aspect you have to look at is the safety of americans. since the invasion, americans have been more vulnerable than ever before when traveling overseas because people want to retaliate against what american troops have done around the world.
