This is a huge generalization....but giving the political scandals of the past any number of years a cursory look, it seems that the conservative types (republicans) have been more involved in the sex (Larry Craig, all those TV ministers etc...) scandals.....and the liberals (democrats) have been more involved in the money (not paying taxes, money in the freezer etc...) scandals.

Again, I'm certainly aware this a gross generalization but it does seem more right than wrong to me.

When 100% of republicans don't cheat on their taxes it won't be hypocritical to assign a few bad eggs who cheat on their taxes to 150 million people. Saying that is like saying all Christians snort cocaine off the body of their gay prostitute like Ted Haggard.

It's because the taxes that everyone talked about were required of him to cover his employees, something he didn't know about when he was supposed to pay them. So they contacted him, and he paid those taxes. That's not tax evasion.
What are you talking about? Geithner's tax problem was that he signed a document when he worked for the IMF stating that he was responsible for paying the taxes the IMF was reimbursing him for, but then he kept the money and didn't pay up - until he was caught cheating on his taxes.
Tim Geithner’s tax evasion - Telegraph Blogs

Bunning and Kyl even waved copies of the IMF document Geithner signed during Geithner's confirmation hearing.

"12:37: In the second round of questioning, Bunning gets his chance to follow up on his earlier statements. “Now I can get to some questions,” he says. First up: Precisely when did you learn that you needed to pay the tax allowance he missed for the IMF? Geithner says the first time was when he received the IRS audit notice of his tax returns, and notes he had “many opportunities” to catch the initial mistake.
Bunning reminds Geithner that the IMF makes the tax obligations of U.S. citizens very clear. Then he pulls out a giant posterboard showing an IMF tax document that Geithner signed to acknowledge that he’d pay up.
“I signed it on the mistaken belief I was complying with my obligations,” Geithner said."
Live-Blogging Tim Geithner’s Confirmation Hearing - Real Time Economics - WSJ

"1:41 p.m. | A tense ending: The hearing adjourns on a testy note. Mr. Kyl repeatedly asks Mr. Geithner why, when he discovered his tax mistakes, he didn’t pay all of the taxes due from past years at once, instead of waiting for his nomination to pay taxes from some of the early years. The senator suggests that Mr. Geithner might have been relying on a statute of limitations in deciding which taxes to pay — a suggestion the nominee rejects.
All the while, Mr. Geithner continues to say that it was all an honest mistake.
1:30 p.m. | More on taxes: “What did you think you were doing” when you signed this document? That’s what Jon Kyl, an Arizona Republican, asks Mr. Geithner as he waves something called a “Tax Allowance Application” that Mr. Geithner had filled out annually — and incorrectly, as it happens — while working for the International Monetary Fund. Mr. Geithner acknowledges that the language of the document was clear but says it was an honest mistake, albeit one he repeated multiple times."
Live-Blogging the Geithner Confirmation Hearing - DealBook Blog - NYTimes.com

Geithner is either too dense to file his income tax return correctly, even though he signed a clearly written document acknowledging what he would have to pay - or he cheated on his taxes. As a consequence for being either ignorant of financial matters - or criminally evading paying his full tax obligation - Geithner was made Secretary of the U.S. Treasury. Only in America.

I beg to differ. Your post indicates that all red states take more than they give. Texas does not take more than they give.
