The "New Testament" means the "New Covenant".
Christians are Jews by adoption (unless they are Jewish believers, of course). We are "grafted in". But I'm sure you have no idea what that means.
I'm not mixing issues, you're trying to set the plate, serve the food, eat and clean the shyt up. You're setting you're own criteria to generousity. "Christians help those in need"..That should be the end of that statement, no caveats or "buts" if you're a true Christian. The church in fact redistributes the tithes paid to the church to support the programs ran by the church. God doesn't write checks. I actually don't hate Christianity, I hate Christian hypocrites. They pretend to be generous but have stipulations. Jesus didn't have stipulations. If you came to him, he gave to you.
Again, I'm not throwing stones at Christianity, I'm throwing stones at those that misrepresent Christianity, that present themselves as being above others when their actions show them as selfish corporatists.
How do you ask God for insight? Which God? Which Bible? Which Church? What time? In what way?
Sure Christians help those in need... but help can be in MANY different forms and in many different amounts... helping those in need does NOT imply that you should steal from others nor does it mean that you should be destitute... it also doesn't mean that you have to give up your money because the needy "want" it... The ones that I rarely see any help are from socialists... they rather steal, cheat, and lie... sound familiar? Hypocrite? Look thyself in the mirror... a hypocrite calling others hypocrites is perhaps the biggest hypocrite of them all...

Good starting place: "Evidence That Demands a Vercict" by Josh McDowell. He was like you: your basic unbeliever. Until he was challenged to provide proof that Christianity was a lie. He tried. Oh, yeah, he tried. What he found is outlined in that book.

I am not the guy trying to rehab the image of Hitler and compare Obama to Christ. I think that those efforts truely are hilarous, perplexing, and very sad.
The left should be trying to rehab George Soros' image, as he is the man in charge. Obama is just his pet dog.
