Since so many of the posters on this board are focused on how horrible and simply evil Obama is and how he's done "nothing" (except of course bring the economy back from the brink of depression), what would McCain/Palin have done? What would the shape of the economy be right now, had they been elected?

Obviously I know we don't really know what they would have done, but since the far right has spent so much time slamming Obama, I'd like to know what they would have done....anyone?

We'd probably be in a third war right now. Would have started something with Iran as soon as the election there came back as rigged.

Outside of that, nothing.

The economy would be roughly the same, as the Democrats and Republicans still continue to spend like there's no tomorrow. Unemployment would keep rising, the corporate crooks would get their bailouts, industries would be artificially kept alive. Nothing would change.

We'd be just as close to a civil war, but the Republicans would be emboldened to further push down and defeat the Democrats in their conquest to have the country ruled in shadow by corporations and in public by Christians and neo-con wingnuts. All these comments about Democrats being fascist are just lies, the Republicans want to do the same thing and are pissed they aren't the ones doing it.

America needs to remove both these parties from power, or we're doomed.

mccain would be doing no better than pbo is doing, more of the same sort of goverment. the only thing that would be different, is that mccain would be borrowing and spending, while pbo is going to raise taxes and spend more.

Agreed.

Do you think that if McCain had been elected he would be facing as much opposition as Obama is working against, all other things (spending, foreign policy, etc.) being equal? Would he be subjected to the smear campaigns? Would liberals threaten to pull their children out of school rather than take the chance on having them hear their President speak?

Do you think that armed protestors would be showing up at venues where McCain was scheduled to speak?

Nice try, but no one knows. You can make a wild guess, or look to see where McCain strenuously objects to what 0bama is doing, but it would just be unqualified conjecture to say for sure otherwise.

One thing is for sure, their would be a lot less gaffes coming from the office of the VP, and a hell of a lot less communists and Marxists in the white house.
