What I know is trickle-down economics did not work, and neither will *fixing* the tip of the iceberg. The insurance is NOT the problem, it is the ugly little by-product of a festering sore with roots that affect the poorest of the poor the most. It is needs to be overhauled starting with states that have little or no health standards and filthy hospitals. The people in DC have absolutely no clue what actually goes on in rural America. Their MYopic vision stops at the end of their noses right along with their capacity to think.

It is not civilized to assume that everyone who disagrees with you is inherently flawed. That is the definition of being close minded.

I guess what I am most upset about is how Democrats get so derailed from accomplishing anything because we are so afraid of doing anything without the approval of Republicans (god forbid we grow a set). Republicans have had control for so long and have not managed to do one thing, not one, for the middle class. Is there anyone else that feels as disgusted as I do?
You are definitely not alone. The Republicans we have in power now, and those who are dominating the airwaves, learned a long time ago to appeal to the stupid people who will believe anything they're told without question. It was (and is) the only way they can enrich themselves at everyone else's expense and still maintain any shred of power. They are deceptively manipulative.

I'm trying very hard to maintain my patience until after the recess, to see what Obama and his staff will come up with in the way of their own healthcare reform legislation and to see if the progressives in the party will stick to their guns and not back down on their pledge to vote 'no' on any legislation without at least a public option. I get why President Obama tried doing it the way he did initially. Not only Democrats, but many prominent Republicans felt that he had the best chance of any of the candidates to actually change the tone in Washington and appeal to everyone's sense of responsibility to not only fix the mess, but to work together to get it done. His ability to work with his opponents was one of the biggest reasons I supported his candidacy.

State Sen. Kirk Dillard worked with Obama in the Legislature and has often talked about how much he respects Obama. Now he's saying it in a new campaign commercial running in Iowa.

Dillard says Republican lawmakers respected Obama for handling complex issues in a bipartisan manner. "His negotiating skills and an ability to understand both sides would serve the country very well," he says in the ad.

Paul Abrams: Hagel: Barack Best to Unite Country

Senator Chuck Hagel (R-NE) said last night that, among the 3 remaining candidates, he thought Barack Obama had the best chance of bringing the country together. While he did not dismiss McCain (he's done that in the Senate) or Clinton (she's had some success in the Senate, not as much as McCain), he said that he believed that Barack Obama, for generational reasons, could best bring the country together.
I had high hopes for Republicans in Congress, because I was swayed that there were reasonable Republicans, like those quoted here; Colin Powell, Scott McClellan, Charles Fried, Former Republican Senator Charles McC. Mathias Jr., Ken Adelman, Former Republican Governor Arne Carlson, Former Governor William Weld, Christopher Buckley, Former Senator Larry Pressler, Francis Fukuyama, Former Reagan chief of staff Ken Duberstein, Former co-chair of Mike Huckabee’s New Hampshire campaign, Fred Bramante, Former head of the Office of Legal Counsel (U.S. Assistant Attorney General) for Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush, Douglas W. Kmiec, and Michael Smerconish, who were also serving our nation in its Legislature.

We were all wrong. Not because we misjudged Barack Obama, but because we forgot who we were really dealing with; dishonest, deceitful fear-mongers like Chuck Grassley and John Boehner & lunatics like Michele Bachmann.

And yet another reason why there can be no reasonable debate on the merits of legislation. Whenever we express disgust with the filth being flung by Republicans, we're told to leave, secede, called unpatriotic, un-American. Tell ya what bub, we did do something to change it on November 4th, 2008. I suggest that if you don't like it, you leave.

These loons have had everything their own way for so long that they now feel totally entitled to run everything. When they lose they try to overturn the election results with outrageous lies and tearing the fabric of our country to shreds.
As usual, I'm w/ her!

Obama went into this w/ the ideal that he could help to bring this country together. I don't think he realized the actual level of bigotry, stupidity, paranoia & bias that still remains in America. I doubt most of us knew, until now.

Disgusted is an understatement. There are no words.
So soon? Better gird your loins!

We haven't even had to try - obama makes it so easy.

From the bailouts, to the budget and stimulus, to the takeover of car companies, to allowing a communist, racist, 9/11 truther in the door of the WH, the list goes on and on.

Good times ahead.

Presidential politics is as hard-ball as it gets - do a little search through history and you will see.

After 8 years of the left savaging Bush........what did you expect?

We conservatives feel the same way.

We see the federal government take over ownership of two of the world's largest auto manufacturers, - and we say WTF!?

We see $787 billion stimulus full of pork and make-work projects that will not even be acted upon for two to four years - and we say WTF!?

We see $7 trillion deficit, and then upgraded to a $9 trillion deficit - and we say WTF!? (and that is without 0bamaCare or carbon cap & trade)

We see a president appointing tax cheat, after tax cheat, self admitted communists and Marxists in his administration - and we say WTF!?

We hear the democrat leadership characterizing American citizens as Nazis, Hitler's brown shirt thugs, racists, KKK, evil mongers and mobs, just because citizens voice opposition to one of 0bama's pet legislation proposals - and we say WTF!?

We hear the president visit country after country and he apologizes for and perceived wrongs by America - - and we say WTF!?

We hear the vice president claim 0bama will be tested by some foreign country like JFK in his first six months - and we say WTF!?

We are getting tired of all of this.

Oh, but you are just tired of 0bama not meeting with the "approval of Republicans"?

You guys have the most articulate and gifted speaker, the greatest leader and he most brilliant president the world has ever known, you should be content. Unless of course he is none of that and you realize your are stuck with a marginal and unaccomplished junior state senator.

Bailouts like your hero Bush?

They are not "Take overs", please quit lying.

Stimulus, like your hero Bush? I'm sure you tore up your Bush stimulus checks right? I'm sure you were spamming this board with thread after thread about Bush's bail out of Wall Street right?

Please quit embarrassing yourself with your hypocrisy and lies.

When he took office we were looking at the worst recession in 80 yrs. You'd think some people would look at what was happening and really think for a change. Guess not.
