I wonder if the irrational morons who are prematurely b*tching about Obama's (inoccuous) speech to the school children will feel as stupid Tuesday night (post-speech) as the rest of us know they look right now?
nah, the meme has already solidified into "the speech was going to be propaganda to indoctrinate our kids, but the outcry made him change it".
as i've said several times, any attempt at compromise with these people (the changed discussion questions) is seen as an admission of wrongdoing.
i do agree with ecvMatt that bringing up racism is pointless - it just gives people an excuse to say "but i'm not racist"/"the left always play the race card" and ignore any further points. except in really egregious cases it's not possible to prove that racism is behind people's fear/hatred of obama, so it's best to just leave it alone and discuss how absurd those fears are on their own merit.
In my field, when I listen to people, if they say the word 'I' more than 5 times in the first minute, I have to make decisions, so when reading the speach, it just stands out for me.

They're making America the same laughing stock that Bush did.
I wouldn't get too self-satisfyed about Canada, 'cuz they're not immune from hysteria either. I remember chatting with a clerk on a Vancouver ferryboat a couple years ago shortly after the arrest of suspected terrorists in Toronto, and without hesitation (or proof), she suggested "they should kill 'em all"!

Well, not sure what it has to do with this thread.
The administrtion has admitted that they wil no longer sugest that student write a paper o how they can help teh presdient after listening to the speech. That is a change for sure. The speech now is said to be about their helping themselves thru getting a education.
And what if they had any "thoughts" about helping the President. When has it become wrong to make students think, oh I see the internet does the thinking for them.
Another thread had a woman breaking down into tears over this speech. I am staggered at the stupidity of these people.
They were going on that he was going to brainwash their children in ONE SPEECH in school?? These same kids are probably taken to movies that have an obvious political undercurrent and the parents are too stupid to see it. These same kids probably saw Happy Feet and the parents missed the WHOLE message about global warming, the melting of the ice caps, the lack of food for the penguins etc.
...and by that measure, I suppose Wall-E should have been rate "R". Imagine, humans being responsible for the planet. What a ridiculous thought. Believe it or not one Obama basher did admit liking the speech, but resented a reference to the environment.
as i pointed out in another thread where you posted this, by far the most common word in the speech is "you". he said it something like 3 times as much as "i".
you mysteriously stopped posting in the thread after that. hm.
But, but, but that's REALLY important! Counting the "I"s !!
I mean it has NOTHING to do with race Counting-of-the-"I"s determines the course of America!!!It's success or failure!!!.....nothing at all to do with race.............
