ok, i may catch some hell for this, but here goes.

How come from 2000-2008 it was ok for us to call Bush every name under the sun and oppose everything he did and expect to get away with it...yet when people disagree with any of Obama's actions they are automatically called racist? (althought some of them are) but it doesnt give us the right to label every conservative a racist.

I am not a conservative, i just think it's getting crazy that every Obama basher hates blacks and when we all did the same thing to Bush nobody said anything

It boils down to this...bush=bad, obama=good. When the Left and the moderates were criticizing Bush, they were just doing their patriotic duty, now that the Right and the moderates are criticizing Obama, we need to sit down and shut up, because clearly we're just flat wrong. There doesn't have to be any internal logical congruity within the thought process of the Left, much of it is based on emotion.

Now THAT is a very good question. Oh, the leftists will come on and say he deserved every bit of it, but that is just their opinion. That was their mantra, with the media's help of course.

I don't think everyone who criticizes President Obama is a racist. I've never called most of them one either.

However, there is undoubtedly some racisim against him. Some things that have never been done or said against another President (You lie!!) are being said and done to this one.

People called President Bush a Nazi, because he was for spying on Americans without a warrent. He took away some personal freedoms, and invaded countries that didn't attack us.

They called him a idiot, because of a lot of the things he said. "Fool me once, shame on you... Fool me twice, won't get fooled again"

While President Obama isn't immune to this, I get the feeling if I was in the room with him and President Bush, I think I could tell who is the smarter guy.

The reason racisim is charged against some of Obamas critics, is because of the people that have come out to rallies against him. Look at the posters people used at the 9/12 rally. There were lots of racial signs against him.

However progressive they might project themselves to be, the Left is actually as conservative and bigoted as the Right, with respect to ideology. The only difference is that the Left never realizes their bigotry. In their mind, that's the definition of being progressive

Who is labeling anyone who opposes Obama a racist? I have seen that claim made by those on the right many times, but other than comments directed at the birthers I have rarely seen those on the left suggest someone is a racist just because they happen to oppose Obama.

Sorry, the there is very little automation on the racial charge. For example, I find nothing racist about Eric Cantor, obstructionist, definitely, racist naw. The same holds true for a number of Obama critics be they Mit Romney, or Michael Steele. I would even go so far as to claim that I have yet to notice any racially loaded criticism for a number of southern conservative critics of Obama such as Mike Huckabee, Ron Paul, or even Newt Gingrich.

Personally, I don't even find the ludicrous labeling of Obama as socialist as anything that absurd political grandstanding. I don't have a problem (rhetorically speaking) of any of a number of canards, slanders or mischaracterizations, all is fair in love, war and politics.

But to argue that a good portion of right wing vitriol being heaved at Obama is isn't racially laden would be farcical.

Standard trick the Right is playing now. Transform "there's racism in some of the objections to Obama" into "Any criticism of Obama is called racist" and then ridicule that notion into submission. It will get to the point where Rush can tell Obama to take the bone out of his nose, and the country won't blink an eye, because they've been lulled into thinking any objection to racism is itself racist and "playing the race card."

As to Bush vs Obama criticisms, the opposition to Bush didn't spread rumors that:

Bush didn't seem really American.
Bush had a name similar to a scary person, therefore their ideologies and motives must be the same.
Bush's religion really wasn't what he claimed it was.
Bush was really born in a foreign country.
Bush was ineligible to be president.
Bush was like Robert Mugabe.
Bush was going to get payback for all the injustices done to white people.
Bush was going to get reparations paid to whites.
Bush was going to grow lime jello salads in the White House lawn.
Bush resembled a big saltine cracker.
Bush was a magic ******.
Bush had unusually pink-hued lips.
Bush's wife was related to an animal used in stereotypes.
