By 30 if she had felt this need, then I would have said go for it.

She's 16 years old. I don't care how well she's knows her navigation, her ship, and what she will encounter on the ocean. She doesn't have the years of experience many sailors have. And any good sailor will tell you that the first rule is to respect the ocean because anything can happen.

Why isn't there a support boat following her? She is still doing it solo but there would be a back-up if she ran into trouble.

I hope she is all right. But I have no clue as to why her parents would let her go out there alone with no support. It just amazes me.

First off - while 16 in chronological age, she is much wiser and mature than 16

And, what does being female have to do with it? Are you saying a female should not do a trip like this? Rather sexist

Recently, there was a 13 year old boy who completed climbing the tallest mountain in the world. A 13 year old.

I can't believe her parents allowed her to do anything so dangerous but I pray she is alright. I've watched You Tube videos of solo journeys like that and its terrifying. The sea is not for me, I guess.
