If you knew your history and Christian history you wouldn't ask this question because the answer would be beyond obvious.
I believe it is beyond obvious. Religion controlled people, governments, countries. You do realize the whole christianity thing is not new? At least 4 other prior religions had the same baic story....virgin birth, 12 apostles etc etc.
Maybe you need to check history and cross reference what else was happening.
Organized religion was and is about power and control and we all know how that works now don't we.
I don't think there is even a question about this. No matter what you believe about religion, whether it came from god....or was a total creation of man, it's ALL about controlling people....period.
My personal beliefs are that it is 100 percent made up by planet Earth inhabitants to control the masses. But like I say, even if you think god thought up all these rules and regulations it would still be about controlling people.
Every organization of evil, control, and brainwashing has come in the guise of care and its interest in "the greater good". That includes religion, which includes Christianity, which includes Southern Baptists and Catholics.

Christianity was not established to control people because the message of Jesus Christ and the Disciples in the New Testament runs counter to the interest of the robber baron class.
