Except that it was Bush-41 who got us in there with no particular plan, and the Republicans in Congress who were calling for us to run away that Clinton ended up ignoring...
Bush 41 initiated a humanitarian mission, Bubba turned that into nation building and his incompetence resulted in that humiliating episode, good men slaughtered in the streets because bubba didn't want to appear provocative by actually allowing soldiers armoured vehicles.
This incident led directly to UBL's perception that the US was weak and would flee conflict when "hurt", which then led directly to 9/11.
There is a reason dems/libs have historically NOT been trusted with FP/national security/military matters.....and we are seeing that played out once again with obama.

Yes, armored vehicles have certainly kept our soldiers safe in Iraq and Afghanistan.

What directly led to 9/11 was the US military presence supporting the most autocratic, corrupt and repressive dictators on the planet. Saudi Arabia being exhibit 1, and the US turning a blind eye to the royal Saudis directly funding radical Islamists to avoid being overthrown being exhibit 2. We not only asked to be hurt, we paid for it. Like a heroin addict, except our drug of choice has been oil.
Bin Laden astutely noted, as did some of our own strategists during the Cold War, that drawing a foreign adversary with a conventional military into the stone age of Afghanistan would result in eventual defeat. One of the critiques of setting a time limit on our stay in Afghanistan is that the Taliban will wait us out. Of course they will. They live there. We can stay there a hundred years, besmirching our reputation (what's left of it) and the Afghanis will stay be protesting, violently or otherwise, that we leave.

LOL. The troops were plopped into the middle of a civil war and told to engage in military operations to thwart the various armed militias that had been stealing about 100% of food and other relief supplies arriving in the country.

No, he tried to get the mission organized so that it had actual objectives. After commanders in Mogadishu blundered into the October 1993 operation that cost 19 American lives, it was REPUBLICANS who called for immediate withdrawal, and Clinton who responded instead with troop increases to protect American lives and prevent the region from simply sinking into anarchy. Those troops were not removed until March of 1994.

Sending in reinforcements and staying put for six months is not a good example of fleeing. You are perhaps thinking of Ronnie Reagan turning tail and running away after 220 US Marines and 79 others were killed by terrorist bombers in Beirut in 1983.

Yeah, that's quite a standard that Bushie set alright. I don't know how Obama is ever going to be able to live up to that. Let's face it -- these Tea Party Republicans can't be trusted with freaking anything. No plans, no programs, no clue...
Cheney obviously has very little respect for Obama, and maybe very little respect for the office of President. He refers to Obama as "this guy".
I would even say that Cheney has little respect for the American electorate. He doesn't seem to understand that it was the policies and behavior and behavior of the Bush/Cheney Administration that contributed to the election of Obama.
Dick Cheney. The extra-extra wide body with the XXXL pants and the largest dome of any man since the days of the Neanderthal Man, claims to have a wealth of experience in military affairs. In the reelection campaign for the village idiot, Cheney said that he and Dubya should be allowed to remain in office so they could "finish the job." Well, that didn't happen. They had 4 more years and floundered miserably.
This snarling butterball of a man is great at postering, when in actuality, his perceptions, strategies, and plans are about as effective as a dog licking air.
Dick Cheney knows he is a war criminal. When you are guilty of something, as Republicans have learned, you go after those who are aware of their malfeasance and accuse them of something you fabricate to distract them from prosecuting/investigating/outing you.
Dick Cheney the war criminal is an evil man, and his 5 deferments from Vietnam, his guarantees of non existent WMD's, and his negligence in defending America in the days leading up to September 11th, 2001, which happened on his watch, should exclude his name from any serious discussion of American foreign policy in Afghanistan
Except Clinton wasn't the one advocating nation-building with a military he worked to avoid serving in as The Dick, a Grade A ChickenHawk did. Dick's very generous with other people's blood.
Whoa haus...

"The best way to end that threat once and for all is with a new Iraqi government -- a government ready to live in peace with its neighbors, a government that respects the rights of its people," Clinton said.
Such a change in Baghdad would take time and effort, Clinton said, adding that his administration would work with Iraqi opposition forces.
In 1994, the administration of President Bill Clinton had begun preparations for military action against North Korea when former President Jimmy Carter traveled to North Korea in June and extracted a promise from Kim Jong Il to freeze nuclear production. 1
Shortly after signing the agreement, North Korea began seeking nuclear weapons fuel through uranium enrichment.
This program apparently received new life in 1997 when Pakistan, strapped for cash by U.S. sanctions, began paying for its North Korean missile imports with uranium enrichment technology.
Perhaps you're unaware that Bush and Cheney were both draft dodgers and chickenhawks. A double barrel pair of military midgets hellbent on sending other people's kids off to their wars.
