You claim to know all about favors yet can't produce a sliver of evidence. You were called on it. Suck it up and move on. No more.

Yes, the Iraqis made the Americans job a lot easier because they were against Al-Qaeda. I know that Al-Qaeda and other insurgent groups were not weak but the U.S. overpowered them because of the Iraqis. If it wasn't for these Iraqi people, the U.S. would've struggled against these groups until today. Also the 90,000 sunni fighters who were against the U.S., they accepted the money they were offered by the U.S. to fight by their side and that is what helped the U.S. defeat Al-Qaeda.

As for Afghanistan the situation differs, because a lot of people back up the Taliban, they also dont provide good information about the Taliban when the soldiers ask them. There are also many groups who are supposed to fight the Taliban but instead they help them by giving them weapons they receive from the foreign forces. Thats why NATO/US struggle against the Taliban.

looks like germany and france don't want in on this "adventure":
France, Germany refuse to commit more troops for Afghanistan | Raw Story (http://rawstory.com/2009/12/france-germany-refuse-commitment-troops-afghanistan/ - broken link)

let me add a quote from supkis:

From day one, our ‘allies’ have been, at best, very tepid. The only exception has been Britain. But the troops and systems support from Britain have been less than 1/10th of US efforts. And in Britain, support for these insane wars is fading very fast. For example, when Obama/Bush announced 30,000 US troops will go there to die, Britain peeped that they would join us and send….500 troops! Whoopee!

again, if the issue is truly safety, i have to ask what difference does it make when our own country's borders aren't even secured? what difference does it make when our own president can have a state dinner and any publicity seeker can get to him?

we will bankrupt this country through war! debt is the opposite of freedom.

Those Sunni fighters- men of conviction.

How much would it take to get them to fight in Afghanistan?

I wonder if they would have jumped after hearing McCain tell them that we'll be there for 100 years.
Disingenuous and out of context.

Default Perhaps...

From the link:

"I can confirm we have now well over 20 countries that are indicating or have already indicated they intend to increase the amounts of forces they have in the country - in Afghanistan. This is on top of the 38,000 (troops from other NATO members and allies) that are already there, taking into account a doubling over the past two years," he said.

Apparthurai said that based on discussions over the past two days, non-U.S. troop contributions to Afghanistan would easily surpass the 5,000 soldiers NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen had predicted. The reinforcements could bring total troop numbers to 140,00 or more.
Apparthurai's spoke at the start of a two-day NATO foreign ministers meeting in Brussels.

While many European countries have hailed Mr. Obama's planned troop increase, Germany and France in particular have not come forward with any new troop pledges of their own.

But several other NATO members, notably Italy, Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia have reportedly agreed to boost their troop commitments.

Perhaps Obama is more persuasive with our allies.
