Yes, the majority does have the say, not some committee made of a few members.
You're just the same as the bigots in the south. It's a very good thing that enough of them died out so that civil rights could be given to the blacks.

Really, it could be argued that favoring the legalization of same-sex marriage is actually a conservative position. What's more traditional than wanting to get married and settle down with another person for life?
