i wonder why immelt, a GE executive, was speaking at west point military academy?
i am sure that immelt, the hypocrite, can get that kind of compensation since GE has always had such close ties to government, as in this september:
Reuters reports an interesting nugget in the wake of President Barack Obama's decision to grant Vladimir Putin his wish and kill the Eastern European missile shield:
Shortly after the pullback on the shield programme was announced, Russia's government said Prime Minister Vladimir Putin would meet several U.S. executives on Friday from firms including General Electric, Morgan Stanley as well as TPG, one of the world's largest private equity firms
General Electric may be the company with the closest ties to the Obama administration (if not, GE is second only to Goldman Sachs), and here we see the company benefiting from an abrupt foreign policy change made by President Obama. But GE isn't the only company benefiting.
why do you think the top tier of the economy is distancing itself so much from the bottom tier?....

Ten times the entry level salary and all bonuses paid in stock. No one person runs a company and obscenely high executive pay demoralizes the average worker.

Just out of curiosity what salary would you feel is appropriate for the CEO of a company with $185,000,000,000.00 in revenue?
I have no problem with the high salaries of executives or sports and entertainment figures, for that matter.
The OP is regarding the ridiculousness of one highly paid person wagging his finger in shame at other highly paid people in similar positions.
