I think a lot of far left liberals didn't really listen to what he was saying and just projected what they imagined him to be. He was always going to ramp up the war in Afghanistan, for example.

He's also turned us back from the edge of a massive global economic meltdown and is pushing through the biggest health care reform ever. Politics is a game of compromise, and if you can get 33% of the way now, then that's a lot better than getting 0% and trying for 100%.
Completely agree with you 100% !!!

It's not Joe six pack whose house has been foreclosed. It's not the 45 million uninsured. Etc.

Ok, this thread is designed to serve as a support thread for liberals, not as a platform for conservatives to say "We told you so." Nonetheless, I bet not a lot of support will be forthcoming in this thread. There will be the defenders and the critics, to be sure.
I am very disappointed.

Socialism has not and will not work in this country. We don't want to be Europe. You "intellectual" libs should know your history by now... This country was created to get AWAY from European style government. This country became the most powerful economy in the world BECAUSE of it's conservative, free-market system. This country takes care of and donates billions of dollars a year around the world to poor countries BECAUSE we have the money to do so! We are the nicest and most compassionate country in the world. Why don't you libs friggen understand that???
Seriously. Step away from the Kool Aid. Obama's done more for the free market than probably any president since FDR and Reagan.

Where's the socialism?

Allowing big business to run health care and plugging up the holes where it's failing?

Loaning banks and industry money to get through a crisis and that they are now paying back so they can thrive again?

That's just common sense and something every nation has done in this economic collapse caused by too loose regulations in the U.S.

And he is doubling down on Afghanistan.

The ONE candidate who Americans thought served the best chance for Americans to finally end the twin disasters of the Bush Adminstration is now going to further ramp up the chaos and insure that the military industrial complex feeds itself with hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars, year after year.

Obama is a huge disappointment but I never truly expected very much change after a year. With his choice on Afghanistan he is doomed to an LBJ-like ending to his Presidency
What part of Obama's campaign promise - repeated probably a hundred times - to "ramp up the war in Afghanistan" has let you down? The fact that he's followed through on that promise?

I have a friend who voted for Obama and then got really mad when he found out he was going to raise taxes on people making over $250k.

I can't help you all who didn't pay attention to who you were voting for. He said what he was going to do all that he has done and now he's doing it - in a government system with checks and balances between the 3 branches to ensure none have too much power.

I think a lot of you think the president can just make happen whatever he wants and you're dragging Obama down because of it.

Reagan went through this too and he came out the other side just fine. Patience. Obama knows what he's doing.

They aren't dealing with any disappointment. Most still think he's just "doing the best he can under the circumstances" Personally, I see a man who has kept basically "none" of his promises and a man who "flip flops" on issues and "panders" to the weaker portion of this country which consequently makes up the larger portion of our citizenry. Which also accounts for his steady popularity as far as Obama the man. He is tanking in every other category but he still has most people convinced he's just a "real nice guy" What better way to change a country for the worse. The masses except your devastating policies with a smile and a high five, cause you are just such a cool dude. The man was bred for this job folks, and he's playing his role to a T! You can trust me on that one.

I am certainly an independent thinker and see no broken promises or flip flops. Please cite evidence for your claims.

Oh how sad this poster doesn't know the difference between an independent and a Republican. Hint the Republican candidate droped out.

I hope the national Dem party is as delusional as you are.

Get ready for a thumpin'.......

Somehow I believe that this thread is disingenuous. I find it suspicious that you only became a member this week. JMO

I am relatively pleased with his efforts to save the economy. That is actually working. Letting the entire world’s finance, banking and industrial system collapse would have been fun but also a way too expensive indulgence.

I am disappointed with staying in Afghanistan even though he said he would. I believe we should get completely out of the Middle East and let them settle their own differences. We can then reopen trade with the winner.

I am really annoyed that he didn't take a firm stand for a completely government operated Universal Health Care system supported by a progressive income tax on the top 15% of the population. IMHO we should run the entire government on tases collected from the top 15%. They own the place so let them pay to operate it.

IMHO Obama is not Liberal enough for my taste. I prefer Bernie Sanders of Vermont.
