NO ONE who makes OVER $250K per year pays a 22.5% Federal Tax. It's MUCH HIGHER.

I earn 50k and go home with 43k. Mr. Earns Alot earns 1 Million and walks home with 780k.

I think we will both survive lol. Paying 8% less doesn't exactly make me a leach. 780k can be stretched much further than 43k when it comes to groceries.
Actually, Mr. Earns A. Lot pays much more.

If you make about $209K per year you are in the 33% tax bracket. Not 22%.

Top 10% earners paid 71% of all income tax
And they control about that percentage of the wealth, so that seems about right.

There is nothing wrong with this. Exec pay increased faster than the pay of the average American...and it looks as if this trend will continue. Much of the people in the upper echelon acquired this wealth via inheritence. Thus creating a permenant upper class. This upper class acquires a greater and greater percentage of resources and power. We don't need an oligarchy in this nation. There needs to be a greater social net to aid in lessening the gap.

I would like be somewhat wealthy. When that time comes, I won't mind. My parents and brother were in the 10-20% range (my parent's 20% and my brother top 10%)...they were okay with paying taxes. That's how I was brought up; contributing to America. It's not about punishment. With proper oversight of spending, it sould be about helping out your fellow American.

Congrats on your lack of success in life. If you knew what it was to work incredibly hard for your success, you'd speak differently.

I was being facetious about 110%. The point is, I do not mind paying more in taxes than the average person. This country has afforded me the opportunity to have the income to do that. But, you are right, I no longer have to work hard.

Yea lets have the top wage earners pay more tax so they can contribute to all the successful Federal Government programs. Lets throw more money at the Feds for education since it works so well. Or we can pay higher taxes to ensure FEMA continues to run like a top.

Federal taxes should be lowered for everyone. The bloated Federal Government is inefficient and costly. There should be more control at the local level.

I can't wait until the non-payers reach 51%. What a wonderful world it will be.

I am about as poor as you can get as I work full time but do not even clear $20,000 a year. They tax the hell out of me. I am sure I am at the bottom 40%, and I had to pay $3,000 in income taxes last year. I even live in Nevada where they have no state tax. The current system is flawed. I think they should abolish all income taxes for anyone who makes under $30,000 a year. Maybe then I could afford health insurance.
