Corridinating their political efforts and figuring out how to implement plans to bring down "tax and spend big government" as we see today shouldn't included public media invitations. Why let the enemy know your strategies?
Received an email from a journalist friend in Nashville who was denied access. Considering he was a strong supporter of Ron Paul's Presidential campaign and is torn about remaining in a Republican Party that has abandoned traditional conservatism, its no wonder. Considering this area had a great deal of support for Paul brand conservatism, once again the right cuts off its nose to spite its face and further alienates those of its own party it doesn't see as ideologically "pure" Neoconservative.
It's a closed-door meeting. So what? It's not like he asked to join the movement and was denied. They want their own hand-picked journalists to cover their meeting and decide what, if any, information about the meeting will be released to the public. It's no different than any other private organization. The tea party is open to all who want to join its cause. No need to cry a river about being denied access to management strategy meetings.
Ask your friend to see if he can attend an ACORN meeting as a journalist and see what response he gets from them? I'm guessing a big fat GTFO.
Please if you are not white and christian do not go to a tea party rally. I feel for your safety on the real. Fight them elsewhere but do not become a victim of thier hate
Why do you say that? Have you actually gone to one? I have, and saw many not white people. And I'm not a christan. In spite of what the leftwing media tried to portray, there was no need for anyone to fear for their safety. Unless you count the environmentalist who had to be escorted out for being too disruptive.

Well I can assure you that he isn't upset but that isn't the point being made and this has nothing to do with tea parties. Matt Collins who is the vice chair of the Tennessee Republican Party was only reluctantly invited due to his chairmanship. He too was a Ron Paul supporter and works for the Campaign for Liberty, which has all but been excluded.
The point is that we are witnessing puritanical ideologues trying to further distill the Republican Party, to its most, whatever they are... Nothing pleases me more personally as I think these whack job kook a doodle doo crazy nuts have wiped out any chance of this brand of crazy from gaining prominence in American politics. Hopefully after purging these nuts, some sane, rational, reasoned intellectual conservatives of a more traditional flavor will replace the kooks.
If they want to stand in a circle and compare nasal indexes on who is the most "real American" then by all means feel free, and good luck at the polls.
Democrats went through a similar thing after LBJ and so too will the Republican Party, then the pendulum will swing once again as it always does.
I can see why they'd want a Palin speech secret, and Bachmans. They want to control the message, hence only freindly ("selected") reporters will cover this.
Sort of reminds me of the old Soviet Union under the Communists. They did stuff in secret too, and controlled the message. In fact there was a famous even in Soviet history where Kruschev gave his "Secret Speech" to a closed session of the Communist Party.
I know the Tea Party people don't like being compared to Communists, but that is what this sounds like.
Kind of like this reporter? We all know who loves Communists....

Seems I recall similar complaints not so long ago about who from the press was invited to WH meetings (and who was not). Now *that* would be something to get worked up over. Did you, at the time?
Sounds like someone has a bitter taste in their mouth
nah i've been to a dozen tea parties in my area. nice folks represented our area well. whites,Hispanic, native American etc.sure we are armatures but we care about our collective future and know we can and will work together.we actually do care about each other and our futures and that of our children. how can that leave a bad taste in my mouth. now go spit you will feel better

Glad to see that these people were united in their bigotry at the "I hate Obama" meetings.
Wonder how upset they are at StarTribune.com that time after time the democrats held health care bill meetings in secret, or if their panties were in a wad over 0bama not pushing for C-SPAN to be allowed at any of those meetings?
Who cares? Its a private group, they have no requirement or obligation to allow the press to attend any of their meetings, its not like they are making secret plans to spend trillions in US taxpayer money.
