The military doesn't want them. They do not even use all the ones they have. But yet the Congress keeps buying them. We certainly won't see the tea bag nut cases at town halls or rallies raising hell about this. Not when their Republicans want it!

Yes, this is sad, but it is not only a conservative problem. There are many liberal supporters of this program. It is very hard to eliminate a jobs program, especially in a recession.

This happens every day and I wish it would stop. The military doesn't want or need some expensive toy but Congressmen keep forcing the military to buy more because the factory is in their district. In fact the defense contractors deliberately spread production around as many Congressional districts as possible just so when the military says it doesn't want the item or that it doesn't work they automatically get Congressional votes to force the military to take more. Pork all the way it seems.

Pork knows no party affliation KevK. You should know that by now.

Enthusiasm for the Globemaster crosses political lines. "We're fighting two wars and meeting humanitarian needs; we need these planes," says Senator Kit Bond (R-Mo.). "It is a defense industrial-base issue, too. It produces jobs in 43 states. But that is secondary. We wouldn't push that unless there is a real need." Boeing's defense business has its headquarters in St. Louis.

Bond, Senator Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.), and 16 colleagues began circulating a letter in April urging members of the Senate Appropriations Committee to keep funding the plane despite clearly stated objections from the White House and Pentagon. In California, C-17 production employs 5,000 workers at a final assembly plant in Long Beach.

I wonder if the military could go on strike against being force fed equipment they don't need. It could refuse to administer the contracts, inspect the manufacturing, oversee the punch list, or accept the final product.

Could this emphasize the fact to Congress that this is unnecessary spending?

When s... looks bad = team work = share the blame.

Why don't conservatives protest that wasteful spending?

Agreed.

And spending funds on the C-17 when I'm being told we don't have enough funds to produce enough f-22s and f-35s, just doesn't make sense.

Alright, alright.....I'm convinced.

The Tea party IS slammed, I'm sure.

I'll join now. Got nuthin better to do and I HATE the current agenda that's being rammed down America's throats under this administration.

BUT.....I'm not stupid enough to believe that there are not ANY Pubs. who are ANY DIFFERENT.........than these loony liberals that seek to destroy the US.
GW Bush, Cheney and a few others come to mind, but without a doubt.....this administration and this Congress ARE freakin whacked in ways never before seen in America!
Total commie agenda and its been in the making for decades.....under BOTH parties....but......it would appear that the piper is knocking and he wants to be paid...in full.....NOW...under the Democrats!

All politicians MUST be under a microscope from now on....as far as I be concerned.

ANY ideology or agenda or anything that is ANTI-US Constitution by any politician should NOT be tolerated for a second!

BTW........ TERM LIMITS for ALL of 'em!!!
This should be a given.

Not that I have any desire to go to a tea party, but this seems as good a poster child for government waste as anything. It's too bad Democrats have given up their role as the party of actual fiscal responsibility (tax and spend is more fiscally responsible than don't tax and spend) without so much as a fight.
