With all due respect to the sincere partisan viewpoints and advocates - let me ask you ONE question: How does one "secure" a right in a partisan manner?
If you have a right to life, liberty and property, endowed by your CREATOR, and government was instituted to secure those rights, then does it matter which party is doing the job?
How would a Democrat or a Republican punish theft, assault, murder in a partisan manner?

According to the Declaration of Independence, we know that governments were instituted to do two jobs:
1. Secure rights, and
2. Govern those who consent.
It is obvious that securing rights does not involve much partisanship.
So let us determine what consent was given, and how that power is used for our benefit. And if you do not know you gave consent, perhaps that is a good place to start your investigation.
The US is falling about because of greed, feminism, selfishness, and classism.

Sure Bush said everyone should live the American Dream but he didn't hold a gun to anyone's head and tell them to buy that $1 million McMansion they couldn't afford. It is those individuals who see lifestyles of the rich and famous and thought, "Oh, I can live that way." Then when it all comes crashing down they cry to the government for help.
And being patriotic means loyalty to your country, not spending more money. Patriotism in my opinion means using your head.

I am living my American dream... I achieved it through hard work and perseverence... same as anyone else can, if they can stop playing the Dems victim game and get to work making it happen
The dumbing down of America through the news and popular culture is a definite concern to the future of America though since there are alot of easily led fools out there

I disagree. I think individual greed was the biggest ingredient. Otherwise, the corporations would have had no one to 'prey' upon. But you get a bunch of selfish morons who can't understand the concept of delayed gratification...mix in our society's growing entitlement issues, and you got yourself a little party...

You forgot to mention that there's a set rate of employment and that the world economy is retracting. Soon there will be hungry people rotting at your doorstep.
All this gloom and doom. Wake up. No matter how bad you think it is, there's always something worse.
Greed sucks and so does selfishness.
