After reading the many debates on this forum and in political and religious venues, I think it's time for a poll. Many of you have seen both sides of the argument, and I am curious where the city-data community stands on the issue.

Um, you have run this thread into the ground. If my memory serves, this is about the tenth time you have started this exact same argument and everytime it does exactly the same thing. Run in circles until it eventually dies. Do you not have anything else to talk about or discuss?

Having sex is a choice.

Being Homosexual is not.

For that matter, suggesting that such behavior is "unnatural" is completely unfounded, as a day spent watching Animal Planet, The Discovery Channel, reading National Geographic or taking enough of one's own time to carefully observe animals in the wild can thereby provide enough evidence to illustrate that procreation is not the only reason animals have intercourse.

Mother Nature is BIsexual.

Homosexuality is merely a sexual orientation-

there is simply a continuum from ultra heterosexual to homosexual

truth is bi sexuality is rare- sexual orientation is pretty much determined at

birth-

Not as rare as you think...and it does matter how you define it. Attraction, intimate interest or sexual activity?

I'm still trying to apply "continuum" to sexual preference...are you suggesting that it is a matter of evolution, this suggestion of succession?

OK, Wikipedia is to be taken with a grain of salt, but these studies are interesting, none-the-less.

Are you implying that most other species in the animal kingdom have recreational sex, or homosexual sex??? There is a HUGE difference between the two with regards to what you appear to be saying.

That said, procreation is the only FUNCTIONAL reason to have sex, but when have we, as humans, only done things because they serve a greater purpose???

Perhaps we were both being unclear.

See link provided above:

And my original thought "Having sex is a choice. Being Homosexual is not."
was reflecting the sentiment often posted by the many who want to believe that someone (human) can stop "being gay" by ignoring desire (and not having sex). 'Like it's just that easy...

Oh, yes, animals do have recreational sex and homosexual unions, without the labels or worry. I don't think it bothers them as much as it does us.

Some have homosexual sex but it's pretty rare........ Heck, regarding labels I'd imagine rape as we define it is quite common amongst animals, so we probably shouldn't be too quick to discard man-made laws...

With regards to this thought I'm a little on the fence because I simply don't know...... Just as I'm skeptical that an alcoholic "just can't help it", etc...

Bottom line is that homosexuality really doesn't bother me until we get to the marriage issue. I don't care to discuss that or get into that right now, but that's where I put my hand out at say "whoah!!!".
