By our love, by our love.

Quote:
To avoid Constance McMillen bringing a female date to her prom, the teen was sent to a "fake prom" while the rest of her class partied at a secret location at an event organized by parents.
McMillen tells The Advocate that a parent-organized prom happened behind her back — she and her date were sent to a Friday night event at a country club in Fulton, Miss., that attracted only five other students. Her school principal and teachers served as chaperones, but clearly there wasn't much to keep an eye on.

Someone should burn this terrible little hick town to the ground! This poor girl is way too good for them, obviously. They could have just let her go. Girls go with girls & guys go with guys all the time to our prom, if they didn't have friends to go with, ect. and some go as a group. Nobody cares! God didn't strike us all down with lightning from heaven.

These people have turned what should've been an insignificant event into a huge one and have demonstrated their cruelty for all the world to see. I am in shock right now at how mean some people are. This whole thing is a tragedy all around.

What's a little arson after some lynching, assault, and oppressive intimidation?

Seriously though, burning it to the ground? Let's save that for Simi Valley or other favorite destination spots.

I'm not necessarily suggesting that she should have gone incognito, but what exactly did she gain by not going incognito? As you mentioned, girls go with girls, guys go with guys, all the time if they're dateless. It seems this turned into a bigger deal than it had to be. What did she gain from it? Notoriety? Ok. A successful court case? Ok. Now what? She'll fade into obscurity into some little liberal hamlet in Washington State, never to be heard from again. She could have done the same without inciting unrest in a small southern town that obviously leans on Christian ideals.

What is hard to understand here exactly? She was standing up for her principles, are you saying people should just back down & shy away from what they believe in? Why should she go "incognito"? How could she anyway, apparently they bamboozled her & sent her off to a totally different location. What is wrong w/you people, just because she's gay you think she doesn't have a right to bring this to light? Hypocrites.

Wow.

1. She forced them to choose to be cruel.

2. This thing they did was a demonstration of Christian ideals.

I dont recall hate being a Christian ideal, but you "obviously" go to a different church.

Lets not forget the parents and school officials were complicit in the deception too. Bullies. And people wonder why youth are so screwed up with wonderful role-models like these teaching them how to exclude and bully kids that are different.
