As to "Vermont wants out," I suspect that there's been some kind of feeling in that direction boiling just below the surface for the last 230-plus years. It wasn't one of the original 13 colonies--Vermont became the 14th state for a reason. It had been a part of New York, and had to secede in order to become a state in its own right. (Ethan Allen and the Green Mountain Boys weren't just some romantic story from the Revolutionary War--they were actually secessionists, fighting for a separation of Vermont from New York).

I've watched this thread for a while now, and I just have to break it to you guys: Vermont does not "want out".

True, there is a tiny fringe group, calling itself the Second Vermont Republic, who wants to secede. They're considered fringe wackos by just about the entire rest of the state.

They also have an unfortunate habit of palling around with racist, neo-Confederate groups like the League of the South.

So don't rush to order that 49-star flag just yet.

I'm not sure exactly what you're getting at. I don't think it's so black and white. The federal government could be smaller, states could be more independent.

Look at the states which are trying to be more independent by enacting immigration laws -- the government doesn't like that.

Smartest State 2006-2007

So if you ask me something is pretty damned good, right and highly desirable about the socialism in Vermont.

The state is also 97% white or so and is not diverse at all... puts a hole in the whole ******* diversity thing huh.

Waiting for the Libs patented racist race card to pop up....

Isn't Vermont the state that made it legal to walk around naked?

Better hide your kids, hide your wives!

Quote:
BRATTLEBORO, Vt. — Topless women on parade? That was fine. Teenagers loitering in the buff, in a downtown parking lot? No problem. Naked sunbathers at swimming holes? It was just au naturel.

But a senior citizen in his birthday suit, walking through the center of town on a Friday night, wearing only a fanny pack? That's where Brattleboro draws a fig leaf.
After years of allowing public nudity, the town famous for its strip-and-let-strip attitude is considering banning it in parts of town, saying naked notoriety has begun drawing people here and is offending locals.

They also have great gun laws without Libs trying to ban them. At the same time, the Swiss media is not trying to allow the glorification of thug culture and violence and degeneracy like here in America which helps explain why they don't have tremendous problems with violent crime and unwanted pregnancies and venereal diseases.

Sounds like America could learn MUCH from the Swiss

Thank you. Threadstarter put quite the interesting twist on things in their title, from fringe group = "Vermont" wants out.

Yes they cld save money , stop building useless monuments and Itd be quite fun to see lobbyists living in a "hooverville" instead of a 700k brownstone in Georgetown

Esp. big pharma and bankster lobbyist whores.....
