I come from an upper middle class black family; I never adapted well to the "WASPs" in my neighborhood or the black people from the ghetto. Any people in the same situation?

before I answer the question on where I fit in as a middle class black, just one question. Why the use of that word?

All I can say is that you've got some serious issues.
Black people from the ghetto? Most upper middle class black folks weren't always upper class black folk, so guess where they came from my sister.
Maybe you need to get off your bourgeois high horse and figure out how to find the humanity of folks from all sorts of strata and backgrounds cause folks are folks.
did you adapt to the other black middle class families in the area?
There were very little blacks in my school/neighborhood. I actually embrace "black culture" more, but they were never as accepting because I was the oreo, (whatever that means?)
ignore the haters and do you. we are in 2010, you should be able to be yourself (and you can). the ppl that you meet that don't call you those types of names in front of you or behind your back are the ppl that you want as friends, regardless of race.
I'm not sure if I fully understand where you're coming from, however I feel very comfortable interacting with people from diverse backgrounds (racial, religious, socio-economic, etc.).
