I agree with you, right or wrong, when are we going to stop making excuses for these people who do stupid acts. Terrorists are much more likely to be of a darker skin tone, then not, we need to be careful, one dangerous move on an airplane, well you know what can happen. And what if this case had been different, just what if, he was trying to do soemthing other then what he said his intentions were. We need tougher profiling, tougher measures in place, if these terrorists want to cause some serious heartaches on an airplance, i think they are still able to do so.
Aren't you forgetting something? The man may be guilty of making a stupid mistake in judgment but he was NOT a terrorist. If we start profiling for 'likely to do stupid things' we're all in trouble.
Well this is yet another story that came out before any facts were gathered. oh and it wasnt true.... hmmm didn't we start the Vietnam war over the Gulf of Tonkin incident... which also didnt happen...
facts are a bad thing to twist....
Perhaps, facts should have been found out before the thread was opened. People are concerned about airline safety. No untrue stories this serious should be just thrown out to the public.

Well, you should make that suggestion to EVERY cable news outfit, every Broadcast channel, the hundreds of local news channels, the NYT, LAT, and virtually every other newspaper - cause they ALL covered the "breaking news" before all the facts were known.

Did they start this thread? Thread started without a link of this serious nature is asking for panic behavior. IMO

Hardly panic. But maybe the hundreds of "news" organization should have thought of that as well before panicking the population. The link was provided when information was available. Did you see the panic across the US?
You know, when "breaking news" headlines come across the wire, there is usually not a lot of information with them..more like "developing".
But jot them an email anyway and tell them how unhappy you are about how/when/why they break the news.
A Qatari diplomat who sparked a bomb security scare after sneaking a smoke in an airplane's bathroom will likely be sent home or transferred to another country, U.S. officials said Thursday.
A senior State Department official told CBS News correspondent Charles Wolfson the department understands that Al-Madadi, "will be withdrawn" from his position.
Yes. That's how it works. He'll be persona non grata'd, but diplomatic immunity prevents him from being prosecuted. That's the law.
Yeah, but I think the country he comes from should wave diplomatic immunity in this case.
I don't want the guy left in jail for years, or even months. I just think a week in a county jail, a hefty fine, and then ship his butt back home would be fine.
I was watching the news, and they said the guy actually didn't break any laws, that they can figure out. You might be able to stretch certain laws to get him, but it would be a stretch for a small message.
And most of us would use it if we were accused of being terrorists at nearly every turn, the way darker-skinned people are. Even when they are from India or Guatemala, they are accused. Let's face it, people smoke in the lavatories all the time, and we don't scramble fighter jets for them. This was all about this guy's skin tone."

Your thread title could have been less sensational.....maybe just "breaking news"......as it was for the "hundreds of news organtzations" when the "news" was being reported last night. Do you supposed this thread will end up as a hit when someone googles info regarding this event?
