NBC News: Airline bombing attempt foiled - Airliner security- msnbc.com, reports are sketchy, says that a Federal Air Marshall foiled the attempt on the Boeing 757. The plane landed safely in Denver.

This crossed my mind too, but I think the guy was just jonesing for a cig. The incident can be USED, though, just the same.

Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - ABC News is reporting that Federal Air Marshals have subdued a man who attempted to light his shoes on fire on United flight 663 from Washington Regan to Denver Wednesday night.

ABC News quotes Federal law enforcement as the source of the information. They say the suspect was identified by authorities as Mohammed al Modadi, a diplomat from the Qatar embassy in Washington - and has full diplomatic immunity.
