Though this is my first comment in the thread, I'll take a shot at it. I'm pretty familiar with Cesca, and all of the junk he has written. Basically, he starts with the conclusion and then seeks out pieces of information to support his preset conclusion(s).
In this case, the Tea Party folks have legitimate concerns about the future direction of the country. Unlike liberals, they actually understand that enhanced or new programs have a significant cost, and that when they are established or expanded not only are folks required to pay more for the "benefit", they also lose more control over their discretion to participate in the program.
The issue about a middle class tax cut is very temporary, smart folks in the Tea Party movement understand that Obama has assembled a team to evaluate how to close the deficit, and has taken his pledge of not increasing taxes on the middle class and others off the table for those discussions. Per Obama's charter to the group:
“everything has to be on the table” as part of the commission’s deliberations. “We’re not playing that game,” Obama said. “I’m not going to say what’s in; I’m not going to say what’s out. I want this commission to be free to do its work.”
So, though I may not completely agree with Tea Party sentiments, I certainly can see why they have concerns and wouldn't call them racists at all. While certain sub-elements in the movement likely have some racist type of issues, it would be unfair and inaccurate to label the movement with that sentiment.
But liberals don't understand this, and tend to just see things in black and white (literally and figuratively).
Should be a fun November though.
