After a series of tests to determine if chemical dispersants would be safe and effective to help break up the oil spill at the source of the oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico, a mile below the surface of the ocean, the U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency today announced they have authorized BP to use dispersants at depths of 5,000 feet.

“Based on the scientific analysis of the EPA and NOAA and review by the National Response Team," said Coast Guard Admiral Thad W. Allen, the national incident commander for the spill, "it has been determined that the use of dispersants at the subsea source is the prudent and responsible action to take along with other tactics including surface dispersant, skimming and controlled burns."

And then a week later, the EPA tells BP to stop using those dispersents, and for BP to come up with a new one to use? Doesn't look like the EPA knows what to do here, is is just spit balling ideas on the fly.

Washington (CNN) -- The Environmental Protection Agency has ordered BP to find another chemical dispersant to use on the Gulf Coast oil spill amid concerns about the long-term effects of the substance now being used, the agency said Thursday.

The EPA has given BP until midnight Thursday to identify an alternative to Corexit 9500 and 72 hours to stop applying it to the undersea gusher, the agency announced.

The EPA didn;t say to stop all dispersants, it was the Coreexit 9500 that was dangerous.

Again, it's the enforcement issue that lead up to this.

And I think when you get to solutions like that, the more local the better, and the more common sense the decisions are, rather than having a federal government make those decisions."

Huh??? I read his statement, and, again...huh?????

What about the handicapped people who want to go to the 2nd floor to visit their, oh, Doctor? dentist? travel agent? loan company? All of those business are on the first floor?

The fascination now is not how he got the first foot firmly into his mouth, but how he managed to insert the other one in there, too.

Jesus.
He is talking about a smaller firm that can't afford to renovate. Good grief!!! What about the ones that WANT to go upstairs? - well, guess what? You have a handicap. We are very sorry for you, but that is life. You have to learn to live with your disability. If you want to go upstairs, go work for a company that can afford the elevator! Go to the travel agency that is a one-story building. If you need a list, I know a whole lot of them! I can give you a list of dentists as well. Good grief!! Have we lost every sense of common sense for political correctness. It is paralyzing our minds!!

He gave the simplest, dumbest, most fatuous example: "If you have a two-floor office, put the handicapped person on the first floor!"

Good grief, indeed. Were you not listening, or what? Im sure his handlers hoped you werent.

Let me say this again, since there is a comprehension problem that was previously undiagnosed. What about the P-A-T-R-O-N? The C-U-S-T-O-M-E-R?

I'm still shaking my head at that response.

Un-American? Are you kidding me?! When they can make a profit off the oil, the oil is THEIRS. When they spill it, it's a public problem. Honestly, I'm pissed Obama hasn't been MORE aggressive. There should be subpoenas and warrants and BP execs in jail. They've been dragging their heels on this for a month now.
Young Rand has a lot to learn. One day he might be a big name, but obviously he is not ready yet.

My point is - if a company cannot afford to renovate to accomodate the handicapped, let them find another place to conduct business or to find a place of employment. We have plenty to go around. Don't fine a company for not complying. That is just stupid. If a company feels that they will lose more money than the cost of the renovation, then they will renovate. Good grief. When will we stop being to stupid.
