Study: Economy Shrank as Obama Stimulus Failed to Fuel Growth

Most economists believe the Great Recession ended in the summer of 2009 although a quick look at the numbers reveals President Barack Obama's stimulus measures, widely credited for getting the economy going again, really didn’t work.

In the third quarter of 2009, final gross domestic product growth came to 2.2 percent, according to government data, although when stimulus spending was subtracted from that figure and numbers show the economy contracted, the Big Picture reports.

We didn't sink into the Great Depression part II, which was a win as far as I'm concerned. I'm sure if he had taken the advice of the right wing zealots, let "everything fail", and our country went down the toilet you'd be applauding that right? Everybody here knows you'd be crying about that too. Man up, admit Obama is your president and move on.

No- it's time for people like you to man up and admit that Obama is a disaster. How much more is it going to take before you will do that?

Never happen ! The "loyal to the king" types will always go down with the ship. Their captain can never do any wrong..... meanwhile the captain slips into the lifeboat just before the ship goes down !

The stimulus, just like Obama's presidency, is a complete failure. Anyone who thinks otherwise is lying to themselves or just blind.

....and let us not forgot the overwhelming majority of Congress. Our federal government is akin to a black hole sucking up everything within reach.

Given it's relatively small size (compared to the total economy) and the fact that 40% of it was tax cuts the stimulus has had a large effect on the economy and has created a great many jobs. Here in San Diego there is a large amount of hiring and contracting going on at the various military bases in the county primarily to build or work on stimulus funded projects. That some people are so blindly partisan that they continually refuse to acknowledge this obvious truth is sad. You folks should turn off the partisan radio shows and go for a walk outside or something.

We were never going to sink into the Great Depression Part II, and it wasnt Obama that stopped "everyone from failing" it was Bush.. Bush created and overseen TARP. Obama overseen the stimulus.. TWO different programs, two different outcomes.. One successful, (by your own admission) one not so...

When the reality of the stimulus' failure sinks in and the recession is back, the lows in the stock market from March will look lofty.
