I currently live in central nj, about 30 min. out of manhatten. I have a job offer in Vero Beach and was hoping to get some info from people in the area. Im just out of college (23 yrs old) and should be pulling a decent salary down there. Im looking to rent and dont really want to commute more than 30-45 min. each way. The impression I have gotten of most places around Vero is that they are mostly wealthy retirement communities. If you have a minute I would appreciate any advice/info.

1. I enjoy the city life but I know that area has little to offer in that department. Are there any areas near Vero that offer some nightlife or have much of a young professional population?

2. I noticed that Vero Beach is 94-95% white/caucasian. I'm white but this is even a little bland for me. Any local areas with a little more diversity?

3. Being oceanfront would make the transition a little easier. Does anyone know of any rental developments/ good websites that have some listings in the $1500/mo range?

Thanks again for your time.
Cheers,
Steve

I grew up in Vero Beach and love the area, however, it does not sound like Vero Beach would be the right place for you at this time in your life. The nearest "club scene" would be 1 1/2 to 2 hours away (WPB or Orlando) so that takes away going out just for the night. There are a few small bars in town, but that is about it for night life when your just out of college.
